ORLANDO, Fla. — If you can handle a pitching staff, you can find a gig as a backup catcher. Paul Phillips is living proof. Phillips, a journeyman catcher who helped the Rockies through some injury issues in 2009 and 2010, has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Indians. Phillips hit .279 (19-for-68) with one home run in his two seasons in Denver. Now for the important number: The Rockies were 12-5 in his 17 starts, a reflection of his abilities behind the plate.
