Found August 18, 2008 on Twins Territory:

We knew that Francisco Liriano was likely headed to Minnesota today with Livan heading out the door. But now it appears that he will be joined by a hitter as well. According to Joe Christensen, people with knowledge of the move have said that Craig Monroe is also leaving the Twins and Randy Ruiz has been added to the 40-man roster and is with Liriano on his quest.

Craig Monroe was hitting just above the .200 mark, and basically all he did was hit eight homeruns for the team. Ruiz deserved a chance, and now he'll get it. So far this season at Rochester, Ruiz was hitting .320 with 17 homeruns and 68 RBI's.

Both of these moves could prove to be better than any trade that the Twins could have made. Now if only Macri would be on that plane too.
