A familiar face may soon be rejoining the Yankees.
According to Trenton Thunder beat writer Josh Norris, former Yankee Chien-Ming Wang was visible at the Yankees’ spring training complex down in Tampa, Fla. this morning. However, Wang has not signed a contract with the team just yet. The Yankees had scouted Wang in the WBC, where he pitched well for his native Taiwan, going 1-0 while pitching 12 scoreless innings.
Norris added that Wang will tryout for the Yanks later this week, which will involve throwing some bullpen sessions. Ken Davidoff of the New York Post tweeted moments ago that Wang’s agent, Alan Chang, says that they are talking to multiple teams including the Yanks, and that no timetable for a decision is set in place.
