Fantasy Sports Locker Room takes a look at last night’s fantasy baseball news and notes from around Major League Baseball – Twitter style. Will start with something you don’t see everyday… What an incredible at-bat by Miguel Cabrera. Twisted his left knee on swing, then ties game on 2-run HR to dead center off Mariano Rivera. — Danny Knobler (@DannyKnoblerCBS) August 10, 2013 A home run by Cabrera you see almost every day (34 on the year 108 RBIs), but rarely do you see Mariano Rivera blow a save – especially in back to back games. This is the first time Mariano Rivera has blown consecutive save chances within 3 days since April 5-6, 2005, when he blew 2 vs Red Sox — ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) August 10, 2013 Miggy crushed the two out pitch making it just the ninth time in Mo’s career where he has blown consecutive saves. Despite blowing three saves over the past 11 games he’s still been a fantasy baseball stud for owners in his final season in the majors. Miguel Cabrera HR was calculated as traveling 427 feet, the longest hit vs Mariano Rivera at Yankee Stadium in last 8 seasons — ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) August 10, 2013 The Yankees would walk off in the bottom of the 10th to end the Tigers 12 game winning streak but it didn’t help the fact that Rivera ruined another spectacular fantasy outing from Ivan Nova. Ivan Nova has allowed just 8 ER in his last 6 starts combined, going a minimum of at least 7 innings. — Yankeesource (@YankeeSource) August 10, 2013 Nova went seven innings striking out eight Tigers. He’s been discussed inside the Fantasy Sports Locker Room before as a nice add, the guy has been lights outs of late. It was a rough night for closers and fantasy baseball teams all around took the hit because of it. Jim Johnson continues to lead MLB in both saves (39) and blown saves (7). — Mark Brown (@EatMoreEsskay) August 10, 2013 Cannot make this stuff up: Ground ball back to Fernando Rodney, perfect DP ball, Rodney throws ball into CF allowing Dodgers to win the game — DINOCOSTA (@DINOCOSTA) August 10, 2013 Tampa had a 6-0 lead in the 7th and heading into the bottom of the 8th up 6-1 the Dodgers stormed back scoring four in the bottom of the ninth for the 7-6 win. David Price in eight starts since coming off the DL: 64 1/3 IP, 45 H, 11 R, 10 ER, 2 BB (!), 44 K (1.40 ERA). — Eye on Baseball (@EyeOnBaseball) August 10, 2013 Another seven scoreless innings for Price, but nothing to show for it. Guess now he knows how Clayton Kershaw feels.           Pretty cool stat… Dan Haren faces vs Phillies tonight. If he wins, he joins Barry Zito & A.J. Burnett as only active pitchers to beat all 30 current MLB teams — ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) August 9, 2013 He did just that, becoming just the 13th pitcher to beat all thirty teams. It’s his third straight win, and over the past month his ERA is 2.25 with 33 strikeouts in as many innings. Brandon Beachy‘s eight scoreless innings on Friday helped lower the Braves’ ERA to 2.08 during the streak.–mlb — leadoff sauce (@leadoffsauce) August 10, 2013 14 straight for the Braves. Beachy is a great fantasy baseball pick up if he’s available in your league you should grab him – drop a Jays pitcher. Entering tonight, #BlueJays starters have the highest ERA in the Majors (5.67) since their 11-game winning streak.Surrendered MLB worst 37HR — Gregor Chisholm (@gregorMLB) August 9, 2013 The Oakland A’s scored 15 runs over the last 7 games (before tonight) and lost 6 of 7. They have 6 runs after 1.2 Innings tonight. #Jays — Tony Ambrogio (@SNTonyAmbrogio) August 9, 2013 A trip to Toronto is just what the doctor ordered for Oakland. The Athletics scored early and often north of the border on their way to a 14-6 win. The A’s are apparently still taking batting practice. — Jane Lee (@JaneMLB) August 10, 2013 Oakland had 17 hits on the night – seven from Jed Lowrie and Josh Reddick. Lowrie gives A’s an early 3-0 lead against Rogers with a three-run homer, his 9th of the season. — Jane Lee (@JaneMLB) August 9, 2013 Reddick has his first home run since July 22, his 6th of the season. He had 25 at this time last year. — Jane Lee (@JaneMLB) August 10, 2013 Yes, Josh Reddick just hit his second home run of the night, this one to the opposite field. — Jane Lee (@JaneMLB) August 10, 2013 Things are getting silly around here. Reddick just hit his THIRD home run of the night. — Jane Lee (@JaneMLB) August 10, 2013 Reddick had two home runs in his last 39 games, and by the sixth inning he had gone deep three times; Lowrie finished an elusive triple shy of the cycle. The Texas Rangers kept pace with the A’s in the AL West and it was Leoyns Martin who was at it again with the game winning 2 RBI double as Texas scored seven times in the final three innings to knock off Houston 9-5. Before the game this happened and most likely pleased all fantasy owners. The @WhiteSox have traded OF Alex Rios and cash considerations to @Rangers for player to be named later or cash considerations. — MLB (@MLB) August 9, 2013 He should put up better numbers as a Ranger. There was a double dip between the Twins and White Sox, and Justin Morneau and Alexei Ramirez combined for nine RBIs in game one. Justin Morneau in 8 August games .343/.361/.829 with 5 HR, 11 RBI — Christopher Kamka (@ckamka) August 9, 2013 He had two homers and five RBI in the first game. Alexei Ramirez: first #WhiteSox player to homer in each game of a doubleheader since Magglio Ordonez who did it 4/28/1999 vs Rays — Christopher Kamka (@ckamka) August 10, 2013 Ramirez hadn’t hit a home run in 475 plate appearances. Wilin Rosario went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in Friday’s win over the Pirates. — Marquis Scruggs (@MarquisDotCom) August 10, 2013 It was the first time in eight games the Rockies catcher picked up an RBI. Not sure what makes me more uncomfortable. Watching ARod hit? Or watching him answer questions at a press conference? — Kevin Connolly (@mrkevinconnolly) August 10, 2013 In an unexpected occurrence ‘E’ makes an appearance inside the Fantasy Sports Locker Room…and he’s on point. Alex Rodriguez receives mixed reaction stepping to plate for 1st at-bat back at Yankee Stadium. Boos rain down after he strikes out. — SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) August 10, 2013 A-Rod struck out three times. It feels like every morning we have something about Mike Trout but every night this kid sets his name in the record books: Mike Trout is the youngest player in MLB history with two seasons of 20 home runs and 25 stolen bases. #Angels — Jacob Jaffe (@Jacob_Jaffe) August 9, 2013 The post Fantasy Baseball News & Notes Update: August 9th, 2013 appeared first on Fantasy Sports Locker Room.
