He suggested Iannetta would be a perfect fit for the Angels, and wouldn’t you know it, not even a full hour later he was traded to the Angels. It’s a great deal for the Angels, who significantly upgrade their lineup by adding Iannetta. Jeff Mathis is one of the worst everyday players in the majors, so this is a step in the right direction for the Angels. Even though Iannetta’s contract now voids the 2013 option because he was traded, he’s still a useful piece. Especially for Tyler Chatwood, a starter who likely won’t ever stick in the majors. He’s got a killer fastball, pumping it in at 93 MPH. But with little else to offer, and poor minor league ratios (low K rate and high walk rate), it’s not looking like a good return for theRockies. The Angels are looking like the early winners of this d...

  • I agree with this trade as a step in the right direction. With a trade of Mathi for mills it looks like we are going to do what it takes to improve a woefully inefficient line-up.Now we MUST acquire Aramis Ramirez or nothing will change. The Rangers will still have a much better batting average team wise. That CANNOT continue if the Angels want to win the division.

Colorado Rockies Trade Chris Iannetta, Sign Ramon Hernandez

In their first move, the Rockies traded catcher Chris Iannetta to the Los Angeles Angels for starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood. The team then signed free agent catcher Ramon...

Fantasy Impact: DeJesus Signs with Cubs and Rockies Ship Iannetta to Angels

Winter meetings are just around the corner, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of moves to ponder. I’ll do my best to avoid discussing the impact of relief pitcher signings because players that might be closers now (Daniel Bard) might not be closers very soon (Ryan Madson to Red Sox?). As for the rest of the positions, there’s much we can glean early...
