Felix Doubront's performance today was a good argument for why some people say pitcher wins as a statistic don't matter. Doubront pitched a gem for the Red Sox striking out eleven Orioles batters in seven innings with just two walks and four hits -- and he didn't get the W. Doubront said that he's pitched so well in his last three outings because he's got his confidence back. For a while there it looked like Doubront had been overworked, and wasn't going to regain the dominance he displayed earlier in the season. You could say this was a throwback performance...

BOSTON –– Felix Doubront's gem almost never happened. In the top of the first inning, Orioles slugger Adam Jones pounded Doubront's pitch and sent it screaming towards the seats...

Drake Britton Takes Big Strides Toward Becoming Boston's Next Left-Handed Starting Pitcher (Video)

Drake Britton could be in the Red Sox' starting rotation before you know it. Britton started his 2012 campaign in Single-A Salem and pitched to a 3-5 record and 5.80 ERA. That was good enough to get him a promotion to Double-A Portland, where he pitched much better. In 16 starts with the Sea Dogs, he went 4-7 with a 3.72 ERA. Britton attributes much of his recent success to his...

Jacoby Ellsbury Out of Lineup as Aaron Cook Faces Orioles Team That Cut Him Deep First Time Out

When Aaron Cook stepped to the mound May 5 against the Orioles, he was the latest in a line of Red Sox hopefuls looking to turn around an early Boston slide. Cook pitched admirably at first, zipping through a couple of innings. Then he ran to cover home on a throw to the plate, and one nasty spiking later, the Orioles had gained the upper hand on Cook, the game and even the entire...

Clay Buchholz Continues to Shine, Takes Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors

It's called karma. Clay Buchholz started the year picking up victories where he really had no business winning, going 4-1 over his first seven starts despite a 8.31 ERA. Over the last couple of months, though, karma has been paying him back. Buchholz has been fantastic for the Red Sox, but the wins have been harder to come by. On Thursday night, Buchholz pitched his latest gem...

Dustin Pedroia & Cody Ross hit back to back doubles in the bottom of the eighth off of Luis Ayala to give the Sox a 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.  It was another low scoring affair even though the Sox had plenty of chances to blow this game open. The biggest one was in the fourth where they had two on with nobody out and they barely managed to get a run thanks...
