PLAYERS: Neftali Feliz
TEAMS: Texas Rangers
Texas right-hander Neftali Feliz, who left his start Tuesday because of inflammation in his right shoulder, was feeling better Wednesday. Assistant general manager Thad Levine said that Feliz received treatment on the shoulder and there was improvement in the area. The Rangers do not plan on an MRI on the shoulder at this time. Feliz, who was scheduled to pitch four innings, left after three frames Tuesday because of discomfort in the shoulder. Feliz, who is making the switch from closer to starter, went on the disabled list last April for the first time in his career because of inflammation in the shoulder. Feliz is listed as day-to-day. The Rangers had Wednesday off.

Neftali Feliz Leaves Game With Sore Shoulder

Texas fans, its breath-holding time – according to Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas, Neftali Feliz left today’s game after three innings because of “right shoulder stiffness.” Feliz was scheduled to pitch the fourth, but was replaced by Neal Cotts instead. Because the game was in Mesa, which is not one of the parks that has Pitch F/x installed in Arizona, we can’t compare...

Should the Rangers extend Josh Hamilton?

Now that the Rangers have extended Derek Holland, Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz, the next step would be to evaluate the possibility of giving a contract extension to Josh Hamilton. We all know what Hamilton is capable of doing when he's healthy, and the Rangers should strongly consider extending considering all that they have invested in him. At the end of the 2012 season, the...

No need for snap judgments on Darvish

As a general rule, you don't want to make sweeping judgments based on spring training games. But of course, that's next to impossible when one of those games involves Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish. He made his third start of the Cactus League on Monday, and he showed marked improvement from his last outing. Darvish went four innings in a 5-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. He...

Another AL title for Rangers not all about Yu

Maybe all that attention on Yu Darvish this spring has helped shift some of the focus away from just how agonizingly close the Texas Rangers came to winning the World Series. Even the exciting addition of Japan's top pitcher, it's unlikely anyone with the Rangers last season will ever be able to forget being twice within a strike of a series-clinching victory before losing...

Bates' Dugout Motel: CJ Wilson's Next 14 Tweets by Michael Bates

Mark Saxon is reporting that after tweeting out former batterymate Mike Napoli’s phone number over the weekend, CJ Wilson has decided to take a little break from Twitter. It’s probably a smart decision for him to take some time to cool down, to reconsider what he did, maybe to apologize to Napoli and pay a fine to Major League Baseball. Twitter is a wonderful medium for networking...

Red Sox looking into Mike Gonzalez

Via MLBTradeRumors comes word from Nick Cafardo that the Red Sox are exploring the market for lefty reliever Mike Gonzalez.  Gonzalez has been a fine pitcher throughout his career at various stops, including Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Texas. Predictably, he was better at his first two jobs -- as a younger pitcher in the NL -- than in his latter two. I'm nonplussed...
