Jose Fernandez won his first Major League game on Saturday to snap a three game losing streak for the Miami Marlins as the team beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0.   Miami combined for a 1-hitter with that lone hit coming in the first inning.   The game also featured the first career home run for Marcell Ozuna who has hit safely in every game as a big leaguer thus far. Fernandez worked seven innings which was his longest start so far in the Majors and the rookie also achieved a career high in strikeouts with nine.  It was the most dominant start for Fernandez thus far and came on the heels of two subpar outings in a row.   Showing exceptional control, Fernandez only walked one to give the Phillies a total of two base-runners against the 20 year old.   Mike Dunn worked a perfect eighth to earn his fifth hold of the year before Steve Cishek picked up save number four in the ninth. In addition to Ozuna’s blast, Chris Valaika also homered which was his first as a Marlin.  Ozuna who has now hit safely in all five games in the Majors hit the home run on the first pitch he saw from Cole Hamels.   Those two home runs counted for half of Miami’s four hits in the game but proved to be enough thanks to the exceptional pitching by the Miami staff. The Marlins will try to win a second straight on Sunday with Kevin Slowey scheduled to start.
