  The Kansas City Royals finished their season on Sunday with a 4-1 win over the Chicago White Sox. Bruce Chen pitched excellently, going 6.2 innings and allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits. Salvador Perez hit a 2-run homerun in the 4th inning. Even though that was all the runs The Royals needed, Brett Hayes hit another 2-run homerun in the 7th inning for good measure. The Royals had an impressive season, but more importantly, they had an excellent second half. What they have done since the All-Star Break gives hope to a promising 2014 season, and is more indicative than the awful first two weeks of the season that prevented The Royals from making the playoffs. I like to focus on players’ last at-bats of the season. Though it doesn’t mean anything and is only one at-bat, it is still a tiny memory to carry into the off-season and is the last thing you will see from each player until the following year.
