Comcast Sportsnet Photo The Boston Red Sox head out on a six-game west coast road trip on Monday against the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers. A few new faces will board the plane for the road trip and one of those faces is top prospect Xander Bogaerts. In a number of rosters moves made by the Red Sox on Monday, Bogaerts will make his first appearance on the Major League roster in his young career. Although we are unsure when he will make his debut with the Red Sox, the infielder will be with the Red Sox in San Francisco and Los Angeles this week. To start the 2013 season, Bogaerts hit .311 with 12 doubles, six triples, six home runs and 35 RBI with the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A). After a successful start to the season, the infielder was called up to the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A) where he batted .284 with 11 doubles, nine home runs and 32 RBI. Bogaerts is the future of the Red Sox infield and is the top ranked prospect in the organization and the eighth ranked prospect in the MLB. To make room for the prospect, the Red Sox have optioned infielder Brock Holt to the Paw Sox. Additional moves include activating David Ross from the disabled list, optioning Ryan Lavarnway and Rubby De La Rosa to Pawtucket and moving both Clay Buchholz and Andrew Bailey to the 60-day disabled list. Buchholz is expected to be activated in the coming weeks, but since he has already been on the DL for more than 60 days, the move is merely to make room for Bogaerts to be placed on the teams 40-man roster. Red Sox Nation will have to wait and see if Bogaerts makes his Major League debut in San Francisco or Los Angeles over the coming week.
