The Chicago White Sox are in rebuilding mode.  They aren’t a very good team and don’t figure to be in any kind of race this year or maybe even next year.  They do have some good players on their roster though that you would say are keepers for your fantasy league or team.  Lets take a look at them now.

SP John Danks is a solid left handed pitcher.  He isn’t great but he isn’t bad either.  In his career he is 54-57 with an ERA of 4.03.  His best year was 15-11 in 2010 with a 3.72 ERA.  In three years he won 12,13 and then 15 before falling back in 2011.  He was 8-12 last season with a 4.33 ERA.

RP Matt Thornton is a good reliever.  He could be a closer but the White Sox will go by a closer by committee to start the season.  He has 20 career saves but has mostly been a setup man in his career.  He is 28-28 in his career with a 3.51 ERA.  He is a guy worth keeping as he is a pretty consistent reliever.  You don’t always find that with relievers.  They tend to vary year to year and it is important to have a consistent one and versatile that he could close also.

C A.J. Pierzynski is not a beloved figure around baseball.  He is a good ballplayer though.  He has been around for a long time.  He first appeared in a major league game in 1998 but became full-time in 2001.  He has a 284 career average.  Last season he hit 287 with eight homeruns and 48 RBI.  His best average in a season was 312, the most homeruns he has hit in a season has been 18 and RBI are 64.

1B/DH Adam Dunn, he had a miserable year last year.  It was by far the worst season of his career.  He ended up with a 159 batting average with 11 homeruns and 42 RBI.  The last seven seasons before that the lowest amount of homeruns were 38 twice and he hit 40 four times and 46 once.  He drove in 100+ six times and 92 was his lowest amount of RBI.  The worst average he had before last year was 215.  I would expect him to be better then last year and would hold onto him for another year.  If he has another year like last year then I would dump him.

1B Paul Konerko is getting up their in age but was still productive last year.  I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t keep him on my team.  He hit 300 last season with 31 homeruns and 105 RBI.  He hit 312 with 39 homeruns and 111 RBI in 2010.  He is a career 282 hitter with 396 career homeruns.  He should reach the milestone of 400 homeruns this season.

SS Alexi Ramirez is a good shortstop.  He has some pop and can hit for average.  He also can steal some base for you.  His biggest problem is he doesn’t have a high on base percentage.  I would keep him around, he is a shortstop who will give you 15+ homeruns and around 70 or so RBI.  His career average is 279.

There are a couple of guys I would put on the bubble.  Alex Rios, Gavin Floyd and Gordon Beckham.  Rios seems to be a guy on the decline although he has had some good seasons.  Gavin Floyd is a decent pitcher but has never lived up to his potential and Beckham is still a young developing player.  I wouldn’t keep any of them right now but there is the potential for that.  You can contact me here under this article, if you have twitter find me @gmarchesej and I can also be found on facebook.  Thanks for reading as always, I hope you continue to read not only my articles but my colleagues as well.  We have lots of good stuff on Full Spectrum baseball and also a weekly weekend pod cast that is very good.
