The Miami Marlins fell to 4-13 in June with a ten run loss at the hands of the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.  Boston won 15-5 to complete their fourth win in five tries against Miami this season.    The Marlins are now only one game ahead of last place in the National League East as the Philadelphia Phillies won their game on Wednesday. Ricky Nolasco allowed nine runs in three and one third innings for one of his worst career starts.    The Red Sox put together nine hits against Nolasco as he was unable to get into a groove against a tough Boston lineup.    Three of the runs came on a home run by Mike Aviles in the second inning with the Marlins up two at the time.   Chris Hatcher was first out of the bullpen and he promptly allowed a grand slam to David Ortiz and a solo home run to Jarrod Saltalamacchia.   In all, four runs were charged to Hatcher in a sloppy one and two third innings that saw him walk three batters.   Chad Gaudin contributed two scoreless innings next before Steve ...

Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle Signings Plus Homegrown Talent Have Marlins Feeling Good About Clubhouse Chemistry

BOSTON -- No one really knows the worth of a clubhouse full of guys who love being around each other. But plenty of players and coaches will attest that the opposite -- a team where players don't hang out, or have trouble being loose together -- can definitely stall out any chances that talent and good play have at winning some games. The Marlins will be a good test case this...

Owner insists Marlins will be fine

The Marlins are off to a 33-34 start, but owner Jeffrey Loria isn't panicking. "People should relax," he said Tuesday. "We're going to be fine. It's going to be one hell of a run." Loria said he's convinced the Marlins have plenty of time to get their offense going, pointing out that there are more than three months left in the season and the...

Fish Fall Under .500

Mark Buehrle was roughed up in Fenway Park on Tuesday as the Miami Marlins fell 7-5 to the Boston Red Sox.   The loss moved the Marlins under the .500 mark for the first time since May.   The loss also put Miami at 4-11 in June as they continue to slide back for the second consecutive June.    With the Philadelphia Phillies winning, the Marlins are now only two games ahead...

Summer Solstice Came One Day Too Early for Carlos Zambrano to Celebrate (Video)

The Red Sox celebrated the start of summer in emphatic fashion on Wednesday, taking care of the Marlins with a big win. How can they follow that up against Carlos Zambrano and earn a three-game sweep? We'll have to see. Zambrano is probably glad he didn't have to pitch on the longest day of the year, judging by the way his last few starts have gone. Confused? Don't be...

Logan Morrison Feels Boston Should Be Proud of Fenway Park, Doesn't Heed Fans' Advice to 'Take the Night Off'

Logan Morrison had been crushing Red Sox pitching all night as he prepared for another trip to the dish in the seventh inning. The Marlins cleanup hitter was already 3-for-3 from the plate with a home run, two doubles and all five Miami RBIs as he approached the on-deck circle for the fourth time on the evening. And that's when loyal Red Sox fans really let him have it. As he...

Red Sox May Have More Experience Than Marlins When It Comes to Playing in Nasty Heat

When 96-degree heat settled on Fenway Park for the start of Wednesday night's game, you would think the advantage would go to the baseball club from Miami. But the Marlins, who are enjoying their first year in a new stadium that came equipped with a dome, have been able to shirk sweltering temperatures at most points this year. "When we're in Miami, we have a roof -...

Miami’s Hanley Ramirez to the Tigers a possibility?

After an offseason of big spending, the re-tooled Miami Marlins currently sit seven games back in NL East and have six teams ahead of them in the Wild Card chase. This is also considering the Fish finished out Thursday 3 games under the .500 mark at 33-36 with their loss to the Boston Red Sox. But based off the offseason that they had and the amount of money that was spent, it...

Marlins rely on Nolasco against Red Sox

Tune into FOX Sports Florida at 6:30 p.m. to watch the Miami Marlins take on the Boston Red Sox. The Boston Red Sox would be satisfied if the venue is the only thing different for Felix Doubront in this week's start against Miami. They'd be devastated if Dustin Pedroia aggravated the same thumb injury he suffered last month. Facing the sputtering Marlins for the second...

Red Sox 15, Marlins 5

BOSTON – Last week in Miami, the Marlins beat the Red Sox in the first of six inter-league games to be played between the teams in 11 days. Wednesday night in Boston, the Sox beat Miami for the fourth straight time since, hammering the slumping Marlins 15-5. David Ortiz, hitting his third home run in as many games (No. 19 on the season), drilled a grand slam during a six-run...

Red Sox Pitching Must Tread Carefully With Logan Morrison Playing Out of His Mind for No Reason (Video)

The Marlins probably knew coming in to Tuesday night's game that Mark Buehrle would have to pitch around Kelly Shoppach. After all, the Red Sox catcher has eye-popping numbers against him. The Red Sox, however, likely had no idea to stay away from Logan Morrison. And somehow, the Marlins outfielder has managed to make Clay Buchholz's life awfully difficult on Tuesday night...

"Youthful Enthusiasm" leads comeback, clinches sweep over the Marlins

So how long will it be for before Sully's puts "Youthful Enthusiasm" on a shirt? They have to be printing them out now right? Three prospects, Will Middlebrooks, Ryan Kalish, and Daniel Nava, put together a great three run rally to give the Sox one of their best victories of the year, a 6-5 win over the Marlins.  It started off when another surprise this season...

Everything Was HOT for the Sox Last Night Verses Marlins

On the hottest day of the season so far at Fenway Park, the ball seemed to be flying out of the park and that added to the Red Sox offense hitting, hitting and hitting their way to a win over the struggling Marlins.  The Sox scored 15 runs, Felix Doubront got his 8th win of the season and the Sox went 2 games over 500.  Oh and every other team in the AL East lost last night too...

Boston Red Sox rally twice to complete sweep over Miami Marlins

The young guns of the Boston Red Sox shined in a 6-5 comeback win over the Miami Marlins.  Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed three first-inning runs thanks to a pair of singles by Greg Dobbs and Omar Infante. It took the Red Sox until the fourth to get on the board off Marlins starter Victor Zambrano. A Will Middlebrooks single and Mike Aviles sacrifice fly would cut the lead to...

Marlins Look to Turn Tables on Red Sox

By SBRForum.com The Miami Marlins, maybe the streakiest team in baseball this season, will be looking to reverse their recent fortunes, and those of us who have been backing them with our MLB picks, when they begin an interleague series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park Tuesday night. Miami went 8-14 in April, then 21-8 in May, but is just 4-11 so far in June, after dropping...

Recap: Red Sox and Marlins trade punches, Sox prevail

(Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images) This was nothing close to the duel between Buehrle and Buchholz from last week. The Marlins struck first, but the Red Sox threw the last punch and came out on top with the 7-5 victory. I expected another pitchers duel after the last meeting these two pitchers had exactly a week ago. Instead each offense figured these guys out and started the scoring...
