It took 15 innings but the Miami Marlins finally won a second game in a row with a 4-3 win over the New York Mets.  It’s the first time this year that Miami has been able to get over the one win in a row plateau.  It wasn’t all good for the Marlins however as they lost star Giancarlo Stanton to a hamstring strain.   The slugger was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the game and was replaced by prospect, Marcell Ozuna.   Joe Mahoney was also placed on the DL with a hamstring injury of his own and replaced by Brad Hand.   The Marlins chose to promote Hand due to an exhausted bullpen. Jose Fernandez started the marathon of a game but only lasted four innings in what was his shortest start as a Major Leaguer thus far.   Fernandez struggled with command especially in terms of his fastball.   In all, the young pitcher allowed two runs on three hits in his four innings.  The Mets also walked three times and struck out four times.   One of the stars of the day was Tom Koehler who cam...

Marcell Ozuna gets call to replace injured Stanton

MIAMI Injury again has prompted the Miami Marlins to call up one of their prized prospects. Marcell Ozuna, considered a potential key piece of Miamis future, was summoned to make his major league debut in right field against the New York Mets on Tuesday night. He was in the lineup batting sixth against right-hander Jeremy Hefner. Ozuna replaced Giancarlo Stanton, who was put on...

Comeback Extends Win Streak To Three

The Miami Marlins didn’t lead on Tuesday until the end of the game but that was good enough for the 2-1 victory over the New York Mets which was their third straight win.   Kevin Slowey pitched a masterful eight innings but was a victim once again of low run support.   The third consecutive win gives Miami it’s longest winning streak of the year and improves their record to...

First, a great challenge posed by baseball writer Joe Sheehan: Parlor game: if Giancarlo Stanton misses a lot of time, find the #Marlins' All-Star. — Joe Sheehan (@joe_sheehan) April...

Marlins' Stanton limps out of game

After trading many of their stars after last season, the Miami Marlins' lone remaining major attraction could be sidelined for a while. Giancarlo Stanton left Monday's game against the New York Mets with a strained right hamstring, and the team has yet to announce a timetable for his return. Stanton has started slowly this season, with a .227 batting average and three home...

Stanton injured, Marlins rally past Mets in 15 innings

MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Marlins' walk-off win left Giancarlo Stanton limping. Nick Green hit a game-winning sacrifice fly and Miami rallied for two runs in the 15th inning Monday night to beat the Mets 4-3, handing New York its fifth consecutive loss. But the victory -- only the Marlins' seventh all season -- didn't leave them much in a mood to celebrate. Stanton hobbled...

Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton placed on 15-day DL

Just when it looked like things couldn't get worse for the Miami Marlins, the team's best player had to exit last night's game with an injury.  Giancarlo Stanton suffered a hamstring strain, but the extent was not immediately known last night.  However, the Marlins wasted no time in making a roster move this morning and placing Stanton on the 15-day DL. The injury...

The Mets have lost a season-worst six games in a row. They were beaten Monday when Miami scored twice in the 15th inning to win 4-3. New York's...

A Rough Ride For Marlins North

If you're reading this like I want you to, then tie yourself down to whatever chair you're sitting in, because this post is going to be a rough f*cking ride. I understand that this is supposed to be the "punt" year. And I could deal with it when the Mets pull this garbage against superior teams. Or equal teams. Or even teams slightly worse. The Miami Marlins...

Giancarlo Stanton - 15 Day DL - Hamstring

The Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets last night, but they lost Giancarlo Stanton for a while.  Stanton injured himself while running to first base, and we will not know how serious this is until he undergoes an MRI.  Stanton has struggled all season long, but was getting hot right before his injury.  He hit all 3 of his home runs in the previous series against the Cubs and...

Giancarlo Stanton leaves game in 10th inning with strained hamstring

Marlins Rumors: Adeniny Hechavarria, Nick Green, Brad Hand, Matt Diaz

In what Nick Green has called disappointing move, the Miami Marlins will designate the journeyman infielder for assignment.  The Marlins need the spot on the 25-man roster, and Green is the only logical choice for a designation.  Adeiny Hechavarria is set to return from the DL today. According to Joe Fisaro of MLB.com, Hechavarria will likely be reinstated today in his first...
