Fanning five and only allowing five hits over seven scoreless innings, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chien-Ming Wang stifled Rangers batters on Sunday in Arlington, Texas. After opting out of Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the 33-year-old Wang (1-0, 3.14 ERA) signed a one-year contract worth $500,000 last week to become a Blue Jay. Impressing with the New York Yankees affiliate before bailing for “The City within a Park,” Wang adds depth to an underachieving rotation featuring R.A. Dickey, Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson. Expected to compete for their first World Series title since 1993, the Blue Jays (32-36) have crashed and sit in … Continue reading →

Yankeetorial: Run, everybody. This is the End. The Yankalypse is here, the Ying of Wang is upon us.

History tells us that these things happen to empires. The Mayans disappeared. The Spanish Armada sank. Springsteen put out Devils and Dust. The Yankees, the mightiest dynasty in sports - (after the Chinese Ping-Pong team of the 1970s), have collapsed. This is not a drill. Make your way to the exits. Women and children first. We practiced for this, people. We tracked this storm...

Toronto Blue Jays: Chien-Ming Wang has a mediocre debut

Chien-Ming Wang Chien-Ming Wang had a mediocre start on the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays as he made his debut with the team earlier this week against the Chicago White Sox.  In 7.1 innings pitched, Wang gave up 10 hits, five earned runs, three walks, and struck out two batters.  However, Wang was still able to keep the Jays in the game. At the top of the ninth inning, with two...

Toronto Blue Jays Fans Boarding The Band Wagon Once Again

Don’t look now but the Toronto Blue Jays are one of the hottest teams in the majors after sweeping a four game series with the American League power house Texas Rangers. The Jays have won 8 of their last 10 a stretch in which they took 6 of 7 from the Rangers. According to Blue Jays guru Mike Wilner, the Blue Jays have the best record in the A.L East since May 04th. Romero solid in victory over Pawtucket

Ricky Romero is certainly facing an uphill battle. The former All-Star is biding his time in Triple A Buffalo trying to prove to everyone he still has what it takes. On Friday, he sure made everyone took notice. Friday night was the second game of the new and improved Ricky Romero. In a recent article by John Lott of the National Post, Romero said he was "ditching" his...

A Father and Son Past Time

On this father’s day, I find myself reflecting on the most influential role model in my life and the great past time that he and I shared together.  Like many youths, I had aspirations of playing major league baseball, a train that I rode as far as I could before the harsh realization that I was not going to be the next Gary Carter or Roberto Alomar. My father was there every...

I'll save el Duque the time (and anguish) of posting this ...

Blue Jays' Brandon Morrow threw bullpen, scheduled for rehab assignment

The Toronto Blue Jays likely have no hope of salvaging this season, but as the injuries heal, they will get a better idea of could have been and what will be if they keep the team together.  Brandon Morrow will soon be re-joining the team as he progresses with his rehab.  Morrow is throwing and will be finishing a minor league rehab assignment soon. For the Yankees, it's all so Chien-Ming Wrong

I understand why we let him go. If you love someone, and you are destined to only bring pain to them - like Lon Chaney or that Wolverine guy in the X-men movies -  it's the only thing you can do. So we let Chien-Ming Wang go to Toronto - we just sat there at the kitchen table, trying not to cry, staring into the whiskey bottle, while he filled his duffel, walked to the door...
