Hendricken Alum Evan Marzilli Drafted in MLB 2012 Draft
June 5, 2012- Former Hendricken baseball player Evan Marzilli was drafted yesterday by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 8th round. Evan became the 1st RI player to be drafted in this year’s draft. He joins fellow Rhode Islander Anthony Meo on the Diamondbacks. Evan currently attends South Carolina and is in his junior year. He was an essential part to the Gamecocks back to back National Championships. His freshman year he was named to the College World Series All Tournament Team after hitting .370 and scored 11 runs. Currently in his junior year he leads the team with 12 stolen bases.
Here at New England Sports React, we would like to extend our congratulations to Evan and wish him the best of success at the next level. It’s really great to see local kids from RI get drafted to the Major Leagues!
