Miami, Fla. - Former University of Nevada catcher Brett Hayes was called up from Triple-A New Orleans by the Florida Marlins on May 22 and made his Major League Baseball debut that night versus Tampa Bay collecting a single and scoring a run in his only at bat. Hayes joins Lyle Overbay (Toronto), Corky Miller (Chicago White Sox), Chad Qualls (Arizona), Ryan Church (NY Mets), Kevin Kouzmanoff (San Diego) and Chris Dickerson (Cincinnati) to give Nevada seven alumni currently playing with big league clubs.
