PLAYERS: Tom Koehler
TEAMS: Miami Marlins
From the CPL Former New Bern River Rats ace Tom Koehler (courtesy of the New Bern River Rats) saw his ultimate dream come true Wednesday night (September 5) as he debuted for the Miami Marlins. The 6-2, 225-pound right-hander entered to start the sixth inning for the Marlins. He retired the side immediately, including a recording a strikeout, but then ran into trouble in the seventh. There, he gave up a pair of two-run homers before getting out of the inning. ^^^ Koehler becomes the ninth Coastal Plain League alum to make his major league debut during the 2012 season alone and the 57th overall. The CPL has now had 17 alums reach the majors in the last two years alone. Read the rest of this article here.

Man steals souvenir ball meant for little girl

There are bad people in this world, then there are people like the guy in the below video who jumped in front of a girl an intercepted a ball tossed in her direction by a player that appeared to be meant for her. Those kind of people, you see, are the worst. During Wednesday night’s [...]

"Too bad," he said. "This is not spring training for me. I still get paid to win games and we are going to win as many games as we can." The Marlins are using a six-man...

Marlins hold off Nationals 9-7 in 10 innings

Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen was happy after his team's latest win. He just wasn't sure how to describe it. After chasing Washington starter Stephen Strasburg early in what was likely his final home start this season, the Marlins squandered a 6-2 lead, scored three runs in the top of the 10th and survived a bases-loaded situation in the bottom of the inning to escape...

Nats Try To Keep Streaking As Marlins Come To Town

The Washington Nationals (85-52) are set to face off against the last-place Miami Marlins (61-77) for the final time this season. It’s been a disappointing season for the Marlins, who made a huge splash in the free agent market this past offseason, acquiring Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, and Heath Bell, among others. Now, after trading away some major pieces, the Marlins hope to...
