According to ESPN, former Yankee Andy Phillips has signed a one-year, $400,000 deal with the Hiroshima Carp of the Japanese Central League."I'm really looking forward to playing for a team that has a long history in such a great country," Phillips said on the team's official Web site. "I'll do every thing I can to help the team win a championship."In 203 games as a Yankee Phillips hit .253/.294/.384 with 11 HR and 60 RBI. His best year in pinstripes came in the 2007 season when he hit .292/.338/.373 with 2 HR and 25 RBI in 61 games.
