The Reds are going to have some decisions to make soon with respect to the forty-man roster. The roster must be set by November 20, and the Reds current 40-man (see here) is not only full, but there are four guys on the 60-day disabled list who do not count against the roster limit. (Of course, only one of those — Edinson Volquez — is even worth keeping.) A number of Reds prospects must be placed on the 40-man this year in order to be protected. Those names include Chris Heisey, Travis Wood, and Chris Valaika. I can think of an easy way to open up one roster spot, but the Reds are going to have to decide what to do to open up at least a couple others.
