Colorado Rockies outfielder Dexter Fowler received some disappointing news today. Fowler’s currently on the disabled list recovering from an abdominal strain and was told that once his rehab assignment is done he won’t be rejoining the big league club. This means Dexter will stay at Triple A Colorado Springs for a while, which really isn’t a surprise to anyone.

Earlier I said this move wasn’t a surprise. Well, it really isn’t as Dexter was close to being demoted as it was. He’s been absolutely horrendous in 2011 for the Rockies. He’s batting a mere .238 over 210 at-bats, with no homers and 33 runs batted in. His speed which is his strength has shown at times, evident by his 13 doubles and five triples, but has eluded him when it comes to base stealing. He’s been caught on six of eight attempts.
