By Shawn Ramsey FOXSports.com 1 Cardinals 38-19 Despite having the best record in the league, the Cardinals still have to look over their shoulder for the Reds and Pirates, who are riding on their heels in the NL Central. 2 Reds 36-22 1 If the Reds want to take first place in the NL Central, June is the month to do it. Cincinnati will play two games against the hot Pirates and a series against the Cardinals at home. 3 Rangers 35-21 1 While the pitching staff has mostly been terrific this season, the Rangers typically dominant lineup has gone through several power outages in the first two months. 4 Pirates 35-23 -2 If they can hold their own in upcoming games against the Reds and Cardinals, the Bucs could take the NL Central crown. 5 Braves 35-22 1 Justin Upton has thrived in his new home in Atlanta, but his brother, B.J. Upton has struggled greatly, sporting a sub-.200 batting average for the year. Perhaps B.J.s walk-off single on Saturday will help restore the outfielders confidence. 6 Red Sox 35-23 -1 What a difference a small facelift can make for a club in disarray. Unlike Bobby Valentine last season, John Farrell has kept himself out of the headlines, which is a good thing for a manager, and a key to the Red Sox turnaround. 7 Diamondbacks 32-25 3 Expected to be a back-of-the-rotation pitcher, Patrick Corbin has looked more like a Cy Young candidate this season for the Diamondbacks, sporting a 9-0 record and a 2.06 ERA after Sundays win over the Cubs. 8 Orioles 32-25 4 The Orioles are experiencing a second straight successful season with a lot of thanks going to Chris Davis, who slugged his 20th home run of the season in a come-from-behind victory Sunday against the Tigers. 9 Rays 31-25 7 Unlike Rays teams of years past that relied on strong pitching, this seasons club is thriving off a potent lineup, getting contributions from nearly everyone offensively. 10 Athletics 35-24 3 Oaklands team batting average is one of the lowest in the AL, but the lineup is finding different ways to get on base and score runs, creating headaches for opposing pitchers. 11 Tigers 30-25 -3 Nothing comes easy in the MLB, and the Tigers are experiencing that firsthand as they struggle to put together long winning streaks in a quest to make the World Series for a second straight season. 12 Giants 30-27 -3 Tim Lincecums slump has continued into this season. 13 Yankees 32-25 -6 After a shockingly good start to the season, the Yankees are stumbling; luckily, injured veterans are gradually making a comeback from the DL, with Andy Pettitte and Mark Teixeira returning this week. 14 Indians 30-27 -3 The Indians were looking to be this seasons surprise team but have fallen back to mediocrity in the past two weeks. The main culprit has been the struggling rotation. 15 Nationals 28-29 Jayson Werths return to the lineup this week should help provide a spark to an underwhelming lineup, especially with young superstar Bryce Harper on the DL. 16 Rockies 30-28 -2 After an excellent start to the season, the Rockies lineup has recently experienced some problems scoring runs, leaving 38 runners on base while dropping three of four to the Astros last week. 17 Phillies 28-30 Cliff Lee is still dominating opposing lineups and Domonic Brown is having his own hot-hitting streak, but the rest of the team is struggling to do its part. 18 Padres 26-31 3 Carlos Quentin is reversing his previous hitting problems, becoming the strong offensive force he is expected to be as the Padres continue to play well. 19 Angels 25-33 -1 The hot streak in LA was quickly extinguished as the Angels dropped two against the slumping Dodgers and lost four straight at home to the Astros. 20 Blue Jays 24-33 Nothing new for this years underwhelming Blue Jays squad as they continue to lose games despite a star-studded roster. Hopefully Josh Johnsons return from the DL can light a spark. 21 Cubs 23-32 6 Not a bad week for the Cubs, who took three games in a weather-shortened series against their interleague rival White Sox. If they can keep this up, they will avoid the cellar of the tough NL Central. 22 Twins 25-29 3 After two horrible weeks, the Twins finally kicked the slump last week against the Brewers and Mariners, who are having problems of their own. 23 White Sox 24-31 -4 After reaching .500 last week, the White Sox managed to lose all their games last week, knocking the South Siders right back down in the standings. 24 Dodgers 24-32 -1 Things just keep getting worse for the Dodgers as the injuries pile up, causing manager Don Mattingly headaches as he searches for quick fixes. 25 Mariners 25-33 -1 The already anemic lineup has sorely missed the big bat of Michael Morse. And with Justin Smoak being placed on the 15-day DL, Seattle has to rely on pitching even more than usual. 26 Royals 23-31 -4 The Royals maybe arent quite as ready to contend as their front office hoped after making a flurry of offseason moves to make the jump from rebuilding. 27 Mets 22-32 1 The Mets swept the season series against the Yankees for the first time in their history, but they followed up their stellar performance with a dud, getting swept by the lowly Marlins in Miami. 28 Astros 21-37 1 After a five-game winning streak, the Astros arent looking so bad. They are a very young team, and any success will help build confidence. 29 Brewers 21-35 -3 Long losing streaks have plagued the Brewers this season, but the team did manage to win two straight games for the first time in over a month against the Phillies. 30 Marlins 16-42 The Marlins did end a nine-game losing streak, sweeping the Mets at home over the weekend, but Miami still looks far from being competitive anytime soon.
