By Eric Luchetti and Jase Bandelow FOXSportsMidwest.com 1 Rangers 17-6 The Rangers ran into the Rays buzzsaw, but Josh Hamilton continues to put up ridiculous numbers as they keep their spot atop the rankings. 2 Cardinals 14-8 The Cardinals should get an offensive boost this week as Allen Craig is set to return from a knee injury that has cost him the first month of the season. 3 Rays 15-8 5 The Rays passed a huge early season test with flying colors, taking five of six from the Angels and Rangers on the road last week. 4 Dodgers 16-7 A good week for the Dodgers could have been better if not for the shaky hand of closer Javy Guerra. 5 Braves 14-9 2 Tim Hudsons return to the starting rotation is good news for the Braves as they try and figure out the Jair Jurrjens situation. 6 Nationals 14-8 -1 Talk about a good month in the Nations capital, the starting rotation's April ERA of 1.78 is one of the best ever, yet all the attention is on the arrival of Bryce Harper. 7 Yankees 13-9 -1 The Yankees cant be disappointed after finishing the week at .500 against the Rangers and Tigers. Oh and this just in, Derek Jeter can still hit. 8 Mets 13-10 3 OF Andres Torres' return from the DL to the leadoff spot in the lineup should provide the Mets with some much-needed speed on the basepaths. 9 Orioles 14-9 3 Maybe its the throwback uniforms, but the Os are one of the more pleasant surprises in baseball this season. An early week series with the Yankees is a good measuring stick to how good this team really is. 10 Blue Jays 12-11 -1 Edwin Encarnacion is putting up Jose Bautista-esque numbers so far for the Jays. Hopefully when Joey Bats heats up, Edwin keeps it going. 11 Diamondbacks 12-11 2 Wade Miley has filled the void in the starting rotation left by Daniel Hudson better than most could have imagined for the D-Backs. 12 Giants 12-10 2 Tim Lincecum allowed one run over 13 innings last week against the Mets and Padres, lowering his ERA from 10.54 to 5.74. 13 Tigers 11-11 -10 The Tigers on paper look great. The Tigers in April did not. Doug Fisters scheduled May return offers hope for the near future. 14 Red Sox 11-11 12 The Red Sox offense, led by Jared Saltalamacchia and Cody Ross, exploded and the bullpen was perfect in four save opportunities last week en route to a 6-1 record. 15 Indians 11-9 2 Who knew the fountain of youth was in Cleveland? Derek Lowe is off to his best start since 2002 as the Indians sit atop the AL Central. 16 White Sox 11-11 -6 One of the few bright spots in a rough week for the ChiSox was the often-overlooked Paul Konerko, who hit career home runs number 399, 400 and 401. 17 Reds 11-11 5 There is hot, and then there is Jay Bruce hot. The Cincinnati outfielder homered in four consecutive games to propel the Reds to series wins over the Giants and Astros. 18 Phillies 11-12 The Phillies' under-achieving April secured their first losing month in the regular season since June 2009. 19 Brewers 11-12 1 The starting pitching was as bad as it gets in the first month of the season, but it hasnt affected closer John Axfords performance at the end of games. 20 Rockies 11-11 -4 We have a Carlos Gonzalez sighting. After a slow start to the season, CarGos power appears to have returned. 21 Athletics 11-13 The formula of strong starting pitching and below average offense has the As consistently hovering around .500. 22 Mariners 11-13 2 Michael Saunders bat is heating up for the Ms as they continue to hover around the .500 mark. 23 Pirates 10-12 When will the offense turn around in Pittsburgh? The pitching remains phenomenal, but they need support at the plate. 24 Marlins 8-14 -9 Ozzie Guillen lifted the struggling Jose Reyes from the leadoff spot, yet that might not be the only move needed to get the Marlins headed in the right direction. 25 Angels 8-15 -6 Albert Pujols just finished the worst month of his career and the Angels are dead last in the AL West. Not exactly what Arte Moreno had in mind. 26 Astros 9-14 -1 The Astros have lost six consecutive series since winning their first one against Colorado, but at least none of the six have come by the hand of the broom. 27 Cubs 8-15 3 When the Cubs got a quality start in April, their record was 7-5. When the Cubs didn't get a quality start, they were 1-9. 28 Royals 6-15 1 The Royals looked good on the road during the month of April. They return to KC to host the Yankees this week, in search of their first win at Kauffman Stadium. 29 Padres 7-17 -2 The Padres continue to beat themselves with costly defensive lapses and are on pace for a miserable 190-error season. Perhaps Bud Black should put out a call to Tom Emanski... 30 Twins 6-16 -2 The Twins were 1-4 last week against the Red Sox and Royals. At least Joe Mauer is starting to heat up, hitting safely in each of the five games.
