Found April 03, 2013 on Cleveland Sports 360:
The Cleveland Indians started their 2013 season north of the border with a win over the Toronto Blue Jays. This was Indians manager Terry Francona’s first win with his new team. Justin Masterson pitched 6 innings giving up just 1 run and 3 hits. Masterson walked 4 and struck out 5 batters. In his first at bat for the Indians, Tribe center fielder Michael Bourn was almost decapitated when R.A. Dickey the Blue Jays knuckle ball-er delivered the first pitch of the game. It was high and inside and almost took Bourn’s head off on the way by. Bourne would end up grounding out to second at his first at bat in an Indians uniform, however he would go 2 for 5 in the game and he scored a run also. The Indians first run came in the 2nd inning off a Lonnie Chisenhall hall ground-out to the short-stop that drove in Michael Brantley. Then Drew Stubbs keep the scoring going with a single to left field that drove in Mark Reynolds the Indians D.H. who went hit-less as the Indians D>H. with one str...

Blue Jays fan displays crazed look after catching Jason Kipnis' bat (Video)

A Toronto Blue Jays fan displayed an unbelievably crazed look on his face after catching the bat of Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis during the first inning of Tuesday night's game at the Rogers Centre. The fan ended up with the bat after Kipnis lost the grip on his bat with a swing and a miss at a pitch from Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey. Our guess is that the...

Swing Starters: Ubaldo Jimenez, is there anything there?

When the Indians, first acquired Ubaldo Jimenez I was a gung ho believer in his abilities at the top of the rotation and thought that his struggles early in 2011 where just sample size issues, nothing to be concerned about. This is why I could never be in a front office, as I could not have been more wrong as what we have witnessed so far with Jimenez has been a complete unraveling...

Tribe Season Preview Part Two: The Pitching Staff

Terry Francona’s re-made Indians will take the field full of confidence and excitement, ready to turn the page on the debacle that was the close of the 2012 season and the Manny Acta era. ActaBall is no more. Long Live TitoBall. Ownership had seen enough. The hiring of Francona signalled a new day was upon us. It was time to turn the page and move forward. There was an enormous amount...

Indians' Kazmir hurts abdominal, could miss start

Cleveland pitcher Scott Kazmir has a sore abdominal muscle and might miss his first scheduled start for the Indians. Kazmir felt sore after playing catch on flat ground during a team workout Monday. The Indians open the season Tuesday night at Toronto. Manager Terry Francona said Kazmir will be reevaluated after he tries to throw a bullpen on Wednesday. The 29-year-old lefty was...

Joe Carter says Blue Jays can't get caught in hype

Joe Carter says the Blue Jays' new additions can't get caught up in trying to do too much. The retired Toronto star knows something about meeting high expectations. In 1993, the Jays came into the season as the reigning world champions, and he led them to another title with his winning home run in Game 6 of the World Series. ''When you have new guys come in - as...

Masterson's Opening Day Analysis

Justin Masterson picked up his first victory of the season last night despite a ground ball rate of 35.7%, his third lowest rate in the past two seasons. Despite being an extreme ground ball pitcher, pitching a game where his rate was in the mid-30's is not anything to be concerned about, given the small sample size. His good performance despite the aforementioned fact...

Oh how I have longed for this day….. Your boy is back for year four of the Tribe recaps. It is a true labor of love for me. This year for me holds something special for all of us. I actually like the fact that the Indians started the 2013 season on the road in Toronto against one of the best teams in the AL. Let us see right away what Terry Francona’s bunch is made of. Well it...

Reynolds' HR gives Indians 3-2 win over Jays

TORONTO (AP) -- Mark Reynolds hit a tiebreaking home run in the 11th inning and the Cleveland Indians beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 on Wednesday night. Reynolds drilled a leadoff shot into the second deck off Sergio Santos (0-1), the fifth Blue Jays reliever. 4/2 Game Recap: Indians 4 - Blue Jays 1

Roster Moves: Scott Kazmir was added to the Indians roster today with the anticipation that he will be placed on the 15 Day DL, retroactive to his last start in Spring Training. To make room, Nick Hagadone has been sent back to AAA Columbus, but he will be able to be brought back as soon as Kazmir is placed on the DL. Carlos Carrasco could be the fifth starter and is already on the...

Andy Warhol is a Blue Jays fan, and he caught Jason Kipnis’ bat tonight

Camera one, and now camera two: And now our Canuck friends at The Score have of course giffed this maniac. We don’t do many gifs here, but this one is deserving. Full video of this surely loafer-wearing asshole can be viewed here.

Phils Claim Carrera, Designate Inciarte

The Phillies announced that they have claimed center fielder Ezequiel Carrera from the Cleveland Indians and have designated center fielder Ender Inciarte for assignment in a related move.
