The Yankees were able to get more production than expected from pitcher Freddy Garcia this past season, and decided to resign him to a one-year contract worth between $4 and $5 million.

 

The Daily News reported that Garcia had other offers of two years, but the 35-year-old wanted to stay in New York. He finished the 2011 season with a 12-8 record and 3.62 ERA in 25 starts, a successful year by his expectant standards.
