– The Boston Red Sox are considering first baseman Adam LaRoche as a fall back plan in case they can't sign Mike Napoli reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. LaRoche hit .271/.343/.510 with 33 HR's, 100 RBI's and a .361 wOBA in 647 plate appearances for the Nationals in 2012.
– Yesterday, reports indicated that the Dodgers could be after catcher A.J. Pierzynski, but Dodgers officials say that a run for Pierzynski would be unlikely (via Heyman). The veteran catcher remains a possibility for the Yankees who failed to re-sign Russell Martin. Pierzynski is coming off his best offensive season in his career. In 520 plate appearances for the White Sox in 2012, Pierzynski hit .278/.326/.501 with 27 HR's, 77 RBI's and a .351 wOBA.
