Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has beaten out Los Angeles Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig in the Final Vote by the fans for a roster spot on the National League All-Star team. There had been backlash about Puig, the dynamic Dodgers outfielder, potentially making the team because he would have become the first player in MLB history to appear on an All-Star roster having played in fewer than 40 career games. Freeman is batting .309 with nine home runs and 56 RBI. Puig is batting .394 with eight home runs and 19 RBI in 35 games since joining the Dodgers on June 3. Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Steve Delabar won the Final Vote in the American League. Freeman expressed his joy on Twitter moments after the results were announced: "Words can't describe how thankful I am to all the fans!! This is a dream come true and it wouldn't of happened without you guys!" The 2013 MLB All-Star Game will be broadcast live on FOX from Citi Field in New York on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
