Derek Jeter is inching slowly back to his normal self again after running for the first time since he underwent ankle surgery in October. According to Jon Morosi and Erik Boland via twitter, Jeter ran for just five minutes on a treadmill – progress nonetheless. The Captain also revealed that he has been given the “green light” in regards to his rehab process, meaning he has no limitations as far as baseball activities go. Barring any unforseen setbacks, Jeter should be the Opening Day shortstop.
Although it has been a long winter, especially with the copious amount of snow that hit northeast over the weekend, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Pitchers and catchers will invade the Yankees Spring Training complex in Tampa tomorrow, signaling to all of us that Yankee baseball is just around the corner.
