It hasn’t been long since we posted a Future Alert on World Series Dreaming, with the most recent one coming out on Tuesday.  Typically, these come about every few weeks or so, but when news comes around, why wait? Baseball America released its 2013 Minor League All-Star Team rosters on Thursday, and the Cubs are well represented with two prospects making the first team, and one more making the second team.  This is high praise for three of the team’s top 10 prospects. Javier Baez, ranked #1 on our most recent prospect rankings, stands among the top prospects in the game.  He missed out on the All-Star First Team shortstop honors, but after an extraordinary season was listed as the designated hitter for the team. Baez stands alone among the “Big Four” prospects on the list, as none of Kris Bryant, Jorge Soler or Albert Almora made the cut, but was instead joined by the top pitching prospect in the organization. C.J. Edwards, the small-framed pitcher acquired along with Mike Olt, Neil Ramirez and Justin Grimm in the Matt Garza trade, has been lights out since originally signing in the Rangers organization.  Drafted in the forty-eighth round by Texas in 2011, Edwards is now a candidate for the next round of league Top 100 lists, checking in at #73 on MinorLeagueBall’s mid-season top seventy-five list, and ranks sixth in the stacked Cubs farm system.  Edwards ranked as the team’s number-three starter after Archie Bradley and Eddie Butler, and ahead of Erik Johnson and Rafael Montero. Another former Rangers prospect, Kyle Hendricks, was acquired in the Ryan Dempster trade along with Christian Villanueva in 2012 and put up an eye-opening performance in AA Tennessee and AAA Iowa, moving all the way up to the #10 ranking in the organization. Hendricks came in behind Tyler Glasnow as the number-two starter on the All-Star second team.  The #10 ranking is no knock to Hendricks, who would be higher if the Cubs did not have nine players who will receive consideration for the top 100 prospects list. UPDATE: Third baseman Jeimer Candelario, formerly a Top 10 prospect in the Cubs system and still a very legitimate prospect despite a down year, has been drafted in the first round by the Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Professional Baseball League, where he will play this off-season.  Candelario was taken with the sixth overall pick of the draft.  The Cubs reportedly submitted four players, including Candelario, to the draft. UPDATE2: Marco Hernandez to Tigres del Licey in the third round. UPDATE3: Ivan Pineyro to the Estrellas Orientales in the eighth round.  He will be joined by the fourth Cub on the list, Felix Pena, taken in the eleventh round.
