He's tried 10 times in his career in the regular season. But for some strange reason, Yovani Gallardo has only managed to beat the Brewers' division rival St. Louis Cardinals one time.
And similar to some of his previous starts against St. Louis, Friday night was a quick and painful contest for Gallardo at Busch Stadium.
The Milwaukee ace gave up eight hits and eight earned runs in just two innings of work in the Brewers' 13-1 loss on Friday. After holding St. Louis to two runs in the first two innings, Gallardo let the floodgates open on him in the third, failing to record an out and allowing six earned runs himself.
"Location was not good," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "Stuff was a little bit down, but he wasn't locating well at all. Left his breaking ball up. Fastballs were a lot of them down the middle Everything went wrong."
