A pair of singles in the inning gave them their only lead of the night but that was all the offense that the Yankees could put together against the former Yankee.   Freddy Garcia struggled out of the gate too but the Twins didn’t take their foot off the gas pedal. In his 5.2 innings of work, he gave up 5 runs on 9 hits. The Twins offense was spread throughout the team as 7 of the 9 in the starting lineup drove in one run. Joe Mauer had a pair of doubles and Justin Morneau hit a home run as well as these two former All-Stars attempt to return to form.   Win – Carl Pavano (1-1) Loss – Freddy Garcia (0-1)   Notable Twins *Joe Mauer – 3 for 4, R, BB, 2 2B, RBI (6) *Justin Morneau – 2 for 5, R, Solo Home Run (2) in the 6th, RBI (3) Yankees *Derek Jeter – 2 for 4, R, Solo Home Run (3) in the 1st, RBI (7) *Curtis Granderson – 2 for 4, R, Solo Home Run (3) in the 1st, RBI (6)   Current Yankees Record: 5-5   Ryan Nakada @adakannayr
