Braves (13-2) at Pirates (7-8)
7:05 PM–PNC Park, Pittsburgh
The Bucs look to even this weekend’s series with the red-hot Braves tonight after a tough defeat late in last night’s game.
Programming note: This was originally scheduled to be another MLB Network telecast, but the Pens game has been postponed tonight due to the events in Boston. As a result, ROOT Sports will carry the Pirates game.
Tim Hudson (2-0, 2.50) vs. Wandy Rodriguez (1-0, 1.00)
Hudson is an excellent veteran righty and will be going for his 200th career victory tonight. The 37-year-old is off to another strong start this year and is coming off two consecutive outings in which he allowed just one run. The Bucs got a bit of a break last night, but the Braves’ pitching staff has been the strength of their team this year and will be tough to hit all weekend. Atlanta is undefeated in games when they score – they were shut out in their only two losses.
Wandy makes his return to the mound after skipping his last start with a strained hamstring. The Pirates desperately need him healthy and pitching well, as the rest of the rotation (aside from AJ Burnett) is a pretty big mess right now. Wandy was off to a fantastic start to his season before the injury, so let’s hope it doesn’t affect him at all going forward.
Bucs vs. Hudson: Garrett Jones has had some success against him.
Braves vs. Wandy: Only a a couple guys have faced him several times.

Starling Marte sits after his 0-for-5, 5 strikeout night. I’d rather see him get right back out there, but this probably isn’t a bad time for a night off. John McDonald also gets a start at short.
