The Reds got a little bit of everything you want to see in a 6-1 Friday night win at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
Jay Bruce, Drew Stubbs, and Zach Cozart all homered. The rest of the guys added five additional extra-base hits. Johnny Cueto went the distance to improve to 4-0 on the season, striking out four and walking no one.
The Cardinals lost to the Astros last night 5-4 in Houston. Now the Reds have a chance to get a couple games above the .500 mark and begin a winning-streak on Cinco De Mayo Saturday. What more could you ask for? They must win at all costs today whether that win come ugly or pretty like last evening. The Reds just have to keep rolling.

That was a great game last night, wasn’t it?
Johnny Cueto was awesome. Again. And the offense actually showed up. It felt like it was the first time in forever that the offense wasn’t rained out. How nice that it gave the Cincinnati Reds their first time above .500 since April 8.

Evolution of an Ace

As long as he continues that trend it's only a matter of time before he is considered one of the elite pitchers in major leagues. Reds in need of consistency in clean-up slot
The Reds' offense has been getting better lately. But it has been doing so with little help from the fourth spot.
After Sunday's 5-0 victory over the Pirates, the cleanup hitters are batting .171 with 10 RBI. They are last in the National League in average, slugging percentage and RBI.
A quick fix would to move Jay Bruce to the spot, but manager Dusty Baker has no plans...

The bats for the Cincinnati Reds went quiet on Saturday night vs. the Pirates but they came to life Sunday afternoon as the Reds won 5-0 and took the series from Pittsburgh.
