Right now, the Cubs have 14 Home Runs on the year, Matt Kemp 12...the race is on. If you're in the area, apparently there are some $4 tickets available thanks to the wonders of dynamic pricing. I'd certainly pay that to Kemp play.

The big news I suppose is that Carlos Marmol is out as closer for the time being, with Rafael Dolis and James Russell set to share duties depending on matchups. Kerry Wood could be a possibility down the road. This drastic move should easily put about 10-15 extra wins in the Cubs column the rest of the way as they'll undoubtedly never blow a game. Fun fact, Rafael Dolis walk rate is 4.7 BB/9 and he gives up a lot of groundballs for Ian Stewart to butcher, much like he did yesterday to cost Marmol h...

CHICAGO- The Cubs have activated RHP Ryan Dempster from the 15-day disabled list. Dempster’s been on the mend for just north of two weeks thanks to a right quad strain.
Tonight he will return to face the Reds in Cincinnati. The 35-year-old had an impressive 1.33 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 23/8 K/BB ratio through his first three starts.
What’s more impressive is another outing that...
Carlos Marmol is no longer the closer for the Chicago Cubs, manager Dale Sveum said Friday. The move came the day after Marmol blew a 3-0 ninth inning lead in a 4-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Sveum said left-hander James Russell and right-hander Rafael Dolis will share the closer duties. "I called (Marmol) into the office and told him he is not the closer right now,"...
The Dodgers have the best record in the National league, and are only one win off of Tampa's 18-8 mark for the best in baseball. A big part of that is Matt Kemp, who is making Bryan LaHair's numbers look pedestrian this year. Kemp has hit 12 HRs to LaHair's 7, though their wOBAs aren't [...]
The Chicago Cubs activated right-handed pitchers Ryan Dempster and Kerry Wood from the 15-day disabled list Thursday, while sending pitchers Scott Maine and Randy Wells to Triple-A Iowa. Dempster, who turned 35 Thursday, will start against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. He is 0-1 with a 1.33 ERA in three starts this season. He missed time with a strained right...
CHICAGO (AP) -- Chris Capuano beat the Chicago Cubs with his bat and his arm on Saturday. Guess which one he'll remember more?
Capuano threw seven shutout innings and drove in two runs to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-1 win over the Cubs.
Capuano (4-0) held Chicago to three hits and struck out seven, extending his scoreless innings streak to 18 2-3. His two-run double...
This is how it largely worked for Ned Colletti in recent years: Frank McCourt would give him a number, and then expect the general manager to bring in the team payroll at or under that figure.
So maybe he loses a Hiroki Kuroda because he costs a tad too much, and then tries to make up for it by signing Aaron Harang and Chris Capuano.
Those payroll juggling days, however, may be...
The Giants swept the Cubs by scores of 3-1 and 2-1 in a Cactus League Extended Spring Training Cinco de Mayo doubleheader this morning at Fitch Park in Mesa, AZ.
Both games were pre-scheduled as seven-inning contests, but the game on Field #2 was extended an extra half-inning so that Alvido Jimenez could throw a second inning.
Cubs 2011 1st round draft pick SS Javier Baez left...
CHICAGO (AP) -- Travis Wood will start Sunday for the Chicago Cubs in place of Matt Garza, who was scratched for a second consecutive day due to a virus.
Wood will make his Cubs debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers after going 1-3 with a 5.08 ERA at Triple-A Iowa this year. The left-hander was acquired from the Cincinnati Reds this offseason for reliever Sean Marshall.
Wild Cubs closer Carlos Marmol helped Cincinnati rally for three runs in the ninth to tie it, and Scott Rolen hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning that swept the Reds to a 4-3 victory Thursday and two-game split.
Marmol let a 3-0 lead slip away by walking three of the five batters he faced, allowing Cincinnati to tie it with only one hit in the inning. It was his third blown save...
Hot News for OF Matt Kemp
Even though we’ve already had a pair of no-hitters, it could be argued that the most exciting—and certainly the most anticipated—game of the year was Saturday, when the Washington Nationals visited Chavez Ravine and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The most-hyped prospect of all-time, Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper, was making his debut. Harper’s teammate Stephen Strasburg...
Chicago Cubs pitcher, Jeff Samardzija, has been one of the few bright spots for the club a little over a month into the 2012 season. After yesterdays victory over the Cincinnati Reds, Samardzija is 3-1 with a 3.41 ERA with 32 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.23. Entering into Spring training, he made it known that he [...]
The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated Mike MacDougal, according to the club's official Twitter account. In a corresponding move, the club reinstated Ronald Belisario from the restricted list.
The Dodgers had signed MacDougal to a one-year $1mm deal with a team option for 2013 at $2.35mm. Last season he posted a 2.05 ERA in 57 innings out of the bullpen. This season, MacDougal...
Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp has been unanimously voted the Budweiser Presents National League Player of the Month for April, while Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers was selected as the AL recipient.
Through 23 April contests, Kemp led the Majors with a .417 (35-for-84) batting average and 12 home runs while ranking tops in the National League in RBI (25), hits...
The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Bobby Abreu one week after the Angels cut the slumping outfielder.
Abreu hit .208 in 24 at-bats before the last-place Angels let him go last Friday. He didn't have to go very far to find another job, opting for a reserve role with the NL West-leading Dodgers.
The 38-year-old Abreu is in the last season of a $27 million, three-year contract...
