Cubs (1-0) at Pirates (0-1) 7:05 PM–PNC Park, Pittsburgh MLB.com Gameday TV: ROOT The Bucs look to break into the win column tonight as they take on the Cubs in the first night game of the season. Attendance will certainly be down quite a bit compared to Monday, but the team is trying its best to attract fans by maintaining this annual tradition: Coming down to PNC tonight? Remember it’s Buc Night! $1 hot dogs and popcorn at select locations throughout the park. — Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) April 3, 2013 Tonight’s starters… Edwin Jackson (2012: 10-11, 4.03) vs. Wandy Rodriguez (2012: 12-13, 3.76) “E-Jax” is will be making his Cubs debut tonight, which will mark the 8th different team the 29-year-old has pitched for. That’s pretty ridiculous, especially considering that he’s been fairly successful. You may recall the Bucs tried to lure Jackson last offseason with a 3 year contract worth over $30M, but he turned it down and signed with the Nats for 1 year / $11M. That seems like a smart move now, as his current deal with the Cubbies will pay him $52M over 4 seasons.  Jackson is a solid pitcher with good stuff but can be shaky at times. We will obviously be seeing him quite a bit over the next few years. Wandy enters the year right behind A.J. Burnett as one of the two anchors for the Bucs’ rotation. He has been extremely consistent over his career and did a very nice job last season in Pittsburgh after the trade deadline. If he starts to decline, though, the rotation (which already has enough question marks) will be in serious trouble. Pirates vs. Jackson // Cubs vs. Wandy Lineups: #Cubs lineup @pirates 4/3: Sappelt CF, Castro SS, Rizzo 1B, Soriano LF, Hairston RF, Castillo C, Lillibridge 3B, Gonzalez 2B, Jackson P — Chicago Cubs (@Cubs) April 3, 2013 Here’s the #Pirates lineup for tonight’s 7:05 game at PNC: twitter.com/Pirates/status… — Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) April 3, 2013 The Bucs are trying the same lineup from Monday. Gaby Sanchez starts again, despite another right-handed opposing starter…which is pretty frustrating. We’ll see how long Hurdle sticks with this if he can’t get going. I’d like to see Travis Snider get some chances against RHP’s. LET’S GO BUCS!
