Mariners (15-18) at Pirates (17-14) 7:05 PM–PNC Park, Pittsburgh MLB.com Gameday TV: none The Bucs open up a strange two game set  against the Seattle Mariners tonight. The M’s have only been to PNC once and swept the Bucs in 2004, so the Pirates will try and beat them in Pittsburgh for the first time ever.  As I mentioned on Monday, this begins a stretch of a considerably lighter schedule for the Pirates. The Mariners are third in the AL West, ahead of the Astros and the surprisingly awful Angels. They also feature former Buccos Jason Bay and Oliver Perez. The game’s not on TV tonight because of the Pens. Some pregame injury news: James McDonald, who was supposed to start tonight, is instead headed to the DL. We’ve seen the warning signs with J-Mac, but it’s odd that the Bucs waited until late Tuesday afternoon to make this decision. Josh Harrison was called up to replace J-Mac on the roster – as if the Bucs needed another below-average middle infielder. Russell Martin was scratched from the lineup with neck stiffness. The Fort will start. Tonight’s starters… Aaron Harang (1-3, 8.68) vs. Jeanmar Gomez (1-0, 3.06)  Harang, a seasoned veteran, seems to be nearing the end of his career out in Seattle. He got off to a miserable start to the year, but did post a quality start in his last outing. That’s about the only positive for him so far this year. Gomez steps in to start for the injured J-Mac. Luckily he has not appeared out of the bullpen since his May 1st start, which was somewhat shaky and short-lived but not terrible. The Mariners don’t have a great offense so Jeanmar should be able to at least keep the Bucs in the game. If not, at least the bullpen is fresh after an off day.
