Cubs (1-1) at Pirates (1-1) 12:35 PM–PNC Park, Pittsburgh MLB.com Gameday TV: ROOT, WGN It’s a matinee rubber match today at PNC, as the Bucs and Cubs square off on getaway day. ROOT Sports didn’t pick up several of these games in the past, but it appears that they’re broadcasting everything they can this year. The game is also on WGN, so out of town folks may be able to watch the Cubs broadcast. Today’s starters… Travis Wood (2012: 6-13, 4.27) vs. James McDonald (2012: 12-8, 4.21) Wood will be the first lefty the Bucs face in 2013. He’s got fairly average numbers but is just 25, so his career looks promising. The Bucs were 2-1 against him last season. You know the story with McDonald by now. Absolutely no result whatsoever will surprise me today; he could give up 10 runs or throw a shutout. I wasn’t too encouraged by his spring training but it’s silly to put a whole lot of stock in to spring performance, obviously. I do think it’s important for J-Mac to get off to a good start (both for his own confidence and for the overall stability of the rotation), so I’d be thrilled if he can at least keep it together and post a decent outing today. Pirates vs. Wood // Cubs vs. J-Mac LINEUPS Lineups for #pirates #cubs twitter.com/KarenPrice_Tri… — Karen Price (@KarenPrice_Trib) April 4, 2013 The Bucs’ lineup looks different against a lefty, as you’d expect. Garrett Jones sits in favor of Jose Tabata. Gaby Sanchez moves up to cleanup as Pedro Alvarez goes down to fifth. I thought Michael McKenry might get his first start since this is a day game following a night game, but Russell Martin is back in there. He hits second today. LET’S GO BUCS!
