Found June 19, 2012 on Red Hot Mama:
Last night’s game for me was like Las Vegas: exhaustingly active but ultimately disappointing. The Reds dropped the first of the series with the Indians 9-10. Mat Latos took the mound and was just terrible. In 4.0 innings pitched he allowed 7 runs (earned) on 8 hits, including 3 home runs. Before the game Chris Welsh and George Grande were talking about how Latos could eventually challenge Johnny Cueto for the #1 title, and maybe they’re right, but we sure didn’t see it last night. Mat Latos implies Indians were relaying signs from second base

Pitchers Mat Latos and Derek Lowe opposed each other for the second time in a week, and much like their last game, a controversy ensued. The Indians beat the Reds 10-9 on Monday in the first of a three-game series in Cleveland, and Latos thinks some funny business was going on. The Reds starter got hammered for seven runs including three home runs over four innings, and he implied...

Reds’ Latos Accuses Indians of Stealing Signs

While Cleveland Indians starter Derek Lowe answers every Reds-based question with a roll of the eyes, Mat Latos, the formerly feather-haired hurler for Cincinnati, has taken last week’s drama a bit further by accusing the Indians of stealing signs. “I was a little up in the zone,” said Latos after giving up a seven runs in four innings and seeing his ERA baloon to 5.20. “I...

RLW Episode 14 – Relax Reds Fans

After sweeping the Tribe last week in Cincinnati, the Reds trip to the Mistake by the Lake got off to a rocky start Monday night as Mat Latos only goes 4 innings and gives up a few longballs. In this week’s show: Derek Lowe vs Dusty Baker, Round 2 was Much Ado about Nothing People need to stop tweeting Dallas Latos when her husband pitches poorly We caught back up with Louisville...

Indians come out on top in a wild one in Cleveland, 10-9

Mat Latos' first career start in Cleveland was one to forget After getting swept last week in Cincinnati, Cleveland had revenge on their minds as they welcomed their instate rivals to Progressive Field on Monday. And given the recent bad blood between the two squads in last week's series (mainly Dusty Baker and Derek Lowe), one would've expected a slugfest at some...

Cincinnati Reds pitchers make drastic improvement

For the past few years the Reds have been a hitting club, looking to win with offense rather than defense. Coming into this season it was supposed to be the same old thing, the bats carried the team while the pitching staff did just enough to get by. Apparently no one gave the pitchers the memo. Johnny Cueto in particular has been outstanding up to this point, leading the starters...

Daily Brief: Baker-Lowe grudge match continues

Last Game The Reds got all the back-ups into the line-up but still extended their winning streak to 6 six yesterday by beating the Mets by a score of 3-1. Johnny Cueto walked in the Mets’ 1 run in the second inning, but he also struck out 8. The Reds are now 38-27, putting them 4.0 games in first place in the NLC. Next Game The Reds head to Cleveland today to continue their Battle...

Cueto overcomes dizziness to spin a gem

Johnny Cueto pitched pretty well Sunday for a guy who looked as if he might not make it out of the third inning. The Cincinnati Reds right-hander was set to throw his second pitch of the inning when he stopped and motioned catcher Ryan Hanigan out to the mound. Manager Dusty Baker, pitching coach Bryan Price and trainer Paul Lessard later came out to the mound. Cueto continued...

Quality Start Allows Reds to Sweep Mets

The Reds (38-27) met the Mets (35-32) in their last game of a three game series this Father's Day afternoon. Johnny Cueto not only had a great outing on the mound (7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 ER 1 BB, 8 SO) but also got the first multiple base hit of his career on a stand up double in the 3rd inning. Cueto continues to prove he's one of the best pitchers in the National League. Great...

Cueto, Reds top Mets for 6th win in row

NEW YORK (AP) -- Brandon Phillips hit a tiebreaking single and made a between-the-legs flip to start a flashy double play, leading Johnny Cueto and the Cincinnati Reds over the New York Mets 3-1 Sunday for their sixth straight win. The NL Central leaders completed their first three-game sweep in New York since 2001 and matched their longest winning streak of the season. The Reds...

Reds 3, Mets 1

Slump Squirrel And The Pigeon Sisters

A lot of times, a game comes down to one or two at-bats. First at-bat came all the way back in the second inning. Johnny Cueto had just walked Chris Young (whose strike zone you can see from Tiangong 1) to drive in the first run of the game, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis was up with the bases loaded ready to give the Mets a cushion. Cyborg did a good job battling back from a 1-2 count to...

Game 65: Reds 3, Mets 1

When the Reds sent out a Sunday afternoon line-up that featured Wilson Valdez, Miguel Cairo, and Willy Harris, you could tell this was not the same team that’s been doing all the winning lately. That didn’t stop them, though, and the Reds took home the victory, 3-1. Johnny Cueto took the mound for the Reds, which is always a good sign. He had a little weirdness though. Not only...
