Kudos to the Pittsburgh Pirates this morning. Your hat was being worn by Euro soccer stud Kevin-Prince Boateng yesterday in Sardinia while he was on holiday with the World’s Hottest Soccer WAG, Melissa Satta. Sure, more guys figure the story here is Satta’s ass in this bikini. Wrong. How the hell does Boateng, a German, end up wearing a Pirates hat.
Does he realize the Bucs...
Garrett Jones has been good for 15-20 home runs and 75 or so RBI every year he's been with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The trouble has been that he has to cross through all manner of mountains and valleys to get there. As a result, it's hard to take his streaks too seriously, even when he's on a tear like his current 11-for-24 with three home runs and nine RBI. The overall...
Drew Sutton smacked a walk off solo home run lifting the Pirates to an 8-7 win over Houston on Tuesday night. The Pirates claimed Sutton off waivers June 24 and added him to the active roster a day later. The infielder/outfielder has seven hits in 27 at bats for a .407 average, with one home run and four RBI. PiratesDugout.com's George Von Benko spoke with Sutton recently.
Recall this scene from Dude, Where's My Car?, because it is the reason the Pittsburgh Pirates are leading the NL Central by 2 games.
Every time a Pirate knocks an extra base hit, teammates flash...

Mike McKenry and Pedro Alvarez drove in two runs apiece, and the Pittsburgh Pirates looked pretty comfortable during their first day in first place, beating the Houston Astros 6-4 on Wednesday.
Kevin Correia (5-6) won his third straight decision as the streaking Pirates moved nine games above .500 (45-36) for the first time since Barry Bonds was swinging for the fences at Three...

The San Francisco Giants are in town for the weekend, as the Bucs look to keep things rolling at home before the All-Star break begins next week. PNC Park should be full all weekend and it should be a blast if the Pirates keep it going.
About the Giants:

Jeff Karstens scattered four hits over eight innings and the surging Pittsburgh Pirates blanked the Houston Astros 2-0 on Thursday night.
Karstens (2-2) struck out a season-high eight against just one walk as the Pirates completed their first four-game sweep of the Astros at home since 1979. Joel Hanrahan pitched a perfect ninth for his 22nd save.
Garrett Jones and Casey McGehee...
The Pittsburgh Pirates' recent surge combined with their staggering success at home has made them the surprise leaders in the NL Central.
The San Francisco Giants' struggles have cost them their division lead.
The Pirates will try to capitalize on the slumping Giants and continue their dominance at PNC Park in the opener of this three-game series Friday night.
I think the best part about being a Pirates fan right now is the huge swing in emotions from every other year. Being a Pirates fan for the past twenty years was like this: Being a Pirates fan like now just makes the sun shine every day. Read the recap! First Pitch: 7:05 PM EST [...]
Lefty vs. Lefty in the first game of this series. Also a battle of two guys who had a ton of promise but never quite lived up to the potential. The Pirates lost the first series two games to one. Time to get some revenge. What an outing by Jeff Karstens last night. Just unreal. [...]
