Susan: Does Jonny have something gross in his pocket?Lauren: [doesn't look up] Yes.  The new job is a busy one, which is wonderful for my sanity but not so wonderful for attending Braves games (especially when you like to go early!). My poor Braves played five whole games of the homestand before I got to go to one, and I missed the Padres series altogether. SAD. With the help of a friend, Susan and I ended up with tickets in 119, which is a great place to sit. (117 is a little better for this part of the stadium, but yes, I'll take 119!) Here are the pictures. Enjoy! Joe Blanton and Chad Durbin are friends. I like this. When we walked in Joe was out in the middle of Braves BP. If we ever acquire Mr. Blanton, I'll need to make him his own tag... and there's no telling how many pictures I have of him. :D Tommy Hanson was socks up for beepee! This was great. I really want to know about this batting game they play all the time. It's fun to watch but we can't real...

Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann says he has a cyst and a frayed labrum in his right shoulder. Even so, McCann is upset he's not starting for the second straight game. McCann said Saturday that a recent MRI showed a cyst is pressing on his shoulder joint, causing discomfort. He says he is able to ''do all the things I need to do to play'' but may have to...

Braves drop series to Dodgers, look to gain ground vs Nats

Going into the series with the Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves were 4 games behind the division-leading Washington Nationals. Going into the 3-game set with Washington, the Braves are now 5 games behind the Nats. For whatever reason, the Atlanta bats just didn’t come through against the Dodgers. On Saturday night, the Braves went a ridiculous 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position...

Braves sign 1B Overbay to minor league deal

The Atlanta Braves signed veteran first baseman Lyle Overbay to a minor league contract. The 35-year-old first baseman, released by Arizona on Aug. 5, will report to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, general manager Frank Wren said on Monday. Braves' relievers pitching less

As the Atlanta Braves prepare for an important three-game series in Washington, one difference in their team is quite apparent. The primary Atlanta relievers are pitching significantly less than they did last season, when closer Craig Kimbrel and left-hander Jonny Venters wore down during the team’s September collapse. While the Braves’ rotation ranks only 12th in the National...

Nationals 5, Braves 4(13)

Atlanta second baseman Dan Uggla fumbled Chad Tracy's ground ball in the 13th inning, allowing Danny Espinosa to score the winning run, and the Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves 5-4 Monday night. Washington grabbed a six-game lead in the NL East, handing Atlanta its third straight loss. Ian Desmond led off the 13th with an infield single off Cristhian Martinez (5...

Must See TV For Nationals Fans

As most of you know the Atlanta Braves are in town for the next three days in what may be the most important series for both teams up to this point of the season. Atlanta is currently facing a five-game deficit and is hopeful that they can gain some ground in DC. Since July 3rd, these two teams have been the best in all of baseball. Washington is 30-14 over that time frame...

Nats Challenge Braves In Season’s Most Important Series To Date

The Washington Nationals have been outrageously good recently. They finished a 10-game road trip out west with eight wins and then came home and won their first series back in DC. Over their last 30 games, the Nats are 22-8. The only other team with that record is the Cincinnati Reds, who had a 10-game winning streak in that stretch. The Nats haven’t streaked like that, they’ve...

Braves-Nationals Preview

Tim Hudson hasn't lost since the Washington Nationals beat him to begin July. Another defeat against them to open a crucial three-game series Monday would make winning the NL East tougher for the Atlanta Braves. Hudson (12-4, 3.59 ERA) has been a key figure in helping the Braves (70-51) build a three-game lead for the top wild-card spot and remain within striking distance of...
