Baseball at this time of the year is an exhausting experience. Outside of the emotional investment that comes with rooting on your favorite team as the cling to their playoff lives like so much cooked spaghetti, there's the added outpouring of emotion into games that can affect the playoff situaiton. Never have I cared more for teams to evicerate the Orioles and Athletics than I have the past three weeks. And yet, here we are, still two games behind as the games dwindle by each day. Regardless of the what the Angels do, the fan in all of us can only sit in quiet desperation, hoping the Mariners come through with that key hit...sad, I know.

Angels 7 Rangers 4

Game Notes

-- Jered Weaver did what Jered Weaver does. Win. He notched his 20th win of the season and at least solified his third place finish in the Cy Young race. How Jered wins is a complete mystery, just ask Ranger hitters.

-- Nice bounce back night for Mark Trumbo. a 3-4 night with two big doubles to drive in runs. It certainly doesn't excuse the two month siesta his bat has taken, but a little help goes a long way. This is especially significant since Kendrys Morales left the game with sore ribs and it would appear Trumbo's bat will be needed more than ever.

-- Hey Miguel Cabrera Fans. Yeah I see you over there with your Triple Crown talk. Well, Mike Trout has something to say. That MVP trophy still is up for grabs and young Mikey will have his say before it's all over. Mark My Words!!

Halo A Hole

Wait the Angels won. Where's my fired up Jered Weaver pic or my serious face Mark Trumbo. Sorry, this time of year a Mariners win would have been better than any indivuduall performance. So Seattle, you suck. Is it really too much to ask to step it up just a bit for the next two games? Then you can feel free to coast for the final series. Okay?

Halo Hero

Alright, here's your Weaver pic. Congrate Weave on being the first Angel since Bartolo Colon to win 20. Just don't celebrate the way Bart did, by eating half a live cow and washing it down with a barrel of processed cheese.

Trout, Weaver in mix for postseason honors

There is no debate about the American League's Rookie of the Year this season. That award will go to Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout. However, the Angels have players involved in the debates surrounding the AL's other major awards -- MVP and Cy Young. Trout has been the leading MVP candidate for most of the second half, bidding to join Fred Lynn (1975) and...

Weaver wins 20th, beats Rangers

With the Los Angeles Angels needing every win they can get to stay in the playoff hunt, their ace pitcher came up with another clutch start. Jered Weaver became the American League's first 20-game winner, Mike Trout hit a leadoff homer and the Angels beat Texas 7-4 Friday night to prevent the Rangers from clinching a playoff berth. Los Angeles began the day two games behind...

Weaver, Trumbo keep Angels' hopes alive

Mathematically, the Angels still have a chance. Realistically, they have no illusions about the difficulty of advancing to the playoffs with only a handful of games left. But there's still life, if only just a little. If they play as well as they did Friday night in Arlington, Texas, they'll have no reason to mourn their finish should they fall short. They're running...

Dempster remains at Angels’ mercy

Ryan Dempster does not enjoy facing the Angels.  In his first appearance as a Ranger, he gave up eight runs in 4.2 innings to LAA.  In his second round with the Angels, he only lasted 3.1 innings, giving up five runs in that time. At least he lasted a little longer tonight, but his luck really wasn’t any better. Dempster pitched just 5.2 innings, and gave up four runs on seven...

Cold Fingers

I could say that I've had cold fingers, but I've been writing about other things as needed.  Sometimes there are things I just can't say.  The last several weeks nothing seems to come off my fingers about the Angels.  Not here or anywhere:  not on message boards or doodles on my calendar,  It could be that my fingers are struggling between messages from my head...
