Why Mark Teixeira can make-or-break the Yankees this season

Through 57 games, slightly more than one-third of the season, the Yankees hold a 32-25 record — and have as good a chance to win the AL East as the Red Sox, Rays, and Orioles do.  The Yankees can look forward to a healthy Jeter returning after the All Star break, Granderson re-returning from a hand/wrist injury, and (sigh) Alex Rodriguez’s potential return from oblivion.  Michael...

Yankee fan punched in face, injured at Orioles game

Matthew Fortese, 25 is a lifelong Yankees fan from Hagerstown, MD. When he attended Friday Orioles/Yankees game  meeting a girl for their second date at Camden Yards he was not expecting the game to end by being admitted into the hospital with severe head trauma and a skull fracture. Fortese began to be [...]

Fan catches Mark Teixeira's grand slam in his cap (Video)

New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira hit a grand slam home run in the third inning of Monday night's game in the Bronx, and a lucky fan in the front row of the right field stands caught the baseball in his cap. Yankees Player of the Week: May 27-June 2

Sabathia threw a dominating 7.1 IP on Friday night to end the Yankees losing skid. In a week that found the Yankees struggle to click offensively, where the pitching staff kept the team in most of the games to give the  offense a chance, the Yankees player of the week for May 28-June 2 is CC Sabathia. After losing 5 straight games, including an abysmal 4 game series against the...

Yankees Fan Injured at Baltimore Orioles Game Now in Critical Condition

This is the kind of story that never should have happened, but is starting to become all too common--stupid, senseless, and now possibly fatal violence in the stands at a ball game. Back on May 29 a man by the name of Matt Fortese was at the Orioles/Nationals game at Camden Yards wearing a Yankees cap. No big deal, right? They aren't playing and their merchandise is pretty...

Yanks' Pettitte back from DL, Overbay in RF

Andy Pettitte was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday night by the New York Yankees, and was set to try for his 250th career win with a new right fielder. Lyle Overbay was in the lineup, making his first big league start in the outfield against the Cleveland Indians after making 1,272 appearances in the field, all at first base. ''We've been forced to being...

Seven Orioles among early voting leaders for 2013 All-Star Game

Here's an interesting press release from the Baltimore Orioles about the MLB All-Star Game voting. I guess the results are a byproduct of winning and increased national profile of the Orioles. In addition, the fans have been coming back to Camden Yards and I assume ramping up the results so far. Keep stuffing the ballots, everyone. Link to the voting results so far...

Note to the media: What part of 'A-Rod has a guaranteed contract' did you not understand?

So I've been asked what I think about the Biogenesis scandal, and what do I think will happen to Alex Rodriguez, Francisco Cervelli, and the rest of the players named in the scandal now that Biogenesis head honcho Tony Bosch is reportedly about to sing like a canary. Since you asked, here are my thoughts:1. The idea of 100-game suspensions here for what are technically first...

Report: MLB Preparing To Discipline Rodriguez, Braun, Others In Biogensis Scandal

According to ESPN’s T.J. Quinn  Major League Baseball  is preparing to suspend about 20 players connected with the Miami-based Biogenesis clinic PED’s scandal.  Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun head a list of up to 20 major-league players that MLB will seek to suspend.Tony Bosch, founder Biogenesis of America Has reached an agreement with MLB officials regarding the investigation...

Brett Gardner’s New Life

Fairly ordinary business on Wednesday. The Yankees beat the Indians, in New York. Makes sense. CC Sabathia beat Corey Kluber. You’d expect that to happen. Sabathia went the distance. Sure, all right, his decline is overstated. Travis Hafner clubbed a two-run dinger. Sounds like ol’ Pronk! Brett Gardner mashed a three-run dinger of his own. Well, not unheard of. It was Gardner’s...

Empire Connections Abound On Biogenesis List

Well, well, well. Let's see: Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera, Francisco Cervelli, Jesus Montero, and Robinson Cano have all been named in reports of potential suspensions for association with the disgraced Biogenesis Clinic in Florida. To be fair, Cano's connection is somewhat nebulous (the spokeswoman for his charitable foundation is on the clinic list), but do the above names...

What’s next for the 275 million dollar man?

Alex Rodriquez…I know he is the elephant in the room or the loud obnoxious friend no one wants to admit they brought to the party, but we need to talk about him. Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman gave an interview to ESPN that aired Sunday night before the team’s rain shortened loss to the Red Sox, he had a few things to say about the third baseman. It started with Cashman...

Jay-Z could change the NFL player management landscape

He already had New York sports stars Robinson Cano, Victor Cruz and Geno Smith. Now, Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports could be on the verge of signing DeSean Jackson. Not bad when you consider that the sports management division of the hip hop mogul's entertainment management company is only in its first year of existence.  The NFLPA currently has no jurisdiction over Jay-Z...

Kate Upton watched the Yankees this weekend with little white shorts creeping up her ass

Kate Upton showed up at Yankees Stadium Friday night to watch Mark Charles Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis combine for 4 strikeouts. Not a strike out, Kate modeled a pair of short, cut white... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Indians fall 4-3 at Yankees

NEW YORK (AP) --David Phelps followed the worst start of his young career with his best, allowing a mere infield single in six shutout innings and getting home run help from Mark Teixeira as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 4-3 Tuesday night. Teixeira hit his second homer of the season since coming off the disabled list last Friday. His three-run shot made it 4-0 in...
