Atlanta Braves (63-47) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (50-60)
Tim Hudson (11-4, 3.45) vs. Kyle Kendrick (4-9, 4.45)
Time: 7:05 PM, Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Chance of thunderstorms, 88
Media: Twitter and Facebook
Kyle Kendrick appeared to find his place in the bullpen, but with the departure of Joe Blanton, he found himself back in the rotation. Although he only spent a short amount of time in the bullpen, there has been a slight difference (3.95 ERA as a reliever, 4.54 as starter). Out of the bullpen, Kendrick limited hitters to a .231 average, opposed to .285 in the rotation.
Kendrick will be making his second start this month. His last start came on short notice, as it was the same day Blanton was traded. Kendrick only tossed four innings against Arizona, but the Phillies would like to have him last at least six. However, sometimes the problem has been keeping Kendrick in games too long. Kendrick needs to pitch effectively, but the Phillies also need to use him e...
BEST OF MAXIM
AROUND THE WEB
Have the Phillies reached the end of the line of Kyle Kendrick as a starting pitcher? It sounds as if Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is growing tired of the unpredictable Kendrick. Kendrick has provided some value for the Phillies, but yet there seems to always be the chance for a massive blow-up such as tonight's 6-run, 3 1/3 inning performance. Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia...
Acquired in last week’s trade that sent Hunter Pence to San Francisco, catcher Tommy Joseph is now among Philadelphia’s top positional prospects. An All-Star in the Double-A Eastern League, the righty hitting Joseph has posted a .262 batting average with 8 HR and 39 RBI in 87 games this season.
Joseph, who stands 6’1″ tall and weighs around 215 pounds, was the Giants’...
Before Jonathan Papelbon in the ‘pen, what reliable gun do the Philadelphia Phillies have? What free agents would you select from the list below?

Cole Hamels was absolutely dominant last night on the mound, throwing his first complete game since September 2011 and his first shut out since September 2009 in his 100th career start at Citizens Bank Park. Today, Hamels spoke about why he re-signed with the Phillies.
Check out today's interview from MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM with Jim Memolo and Jeff Nelson. You...
Cole Hamels must be the stopper that the Philadelphia Phillies need tonight. Or will the losing streak against the Tomahawks continue?

Domonic Brown was the untouchable. The Phillies would not trade him. Not for Cliff Lee. Not for Roy Halladay. He debuted to a standing ovation in 2010 as the Phillies entered an offensive funk down the stretch. But soon the magic died.
Brown hit just .210 in his late season call-up in 2010, and Spring Training 2011 before there ever was a Hunter Pence Brown broke his...
Theory of Relativity. Skinny jeans on guys. Nicholas Cage getting paid to do movies. Here’s another thing that makes no sense: fire Charlie Manuel.
The Phillies' number 3 and 4 hitters were injured for the first three months, Roy Halladay joined the DL for over a month, they have a minor league bullpen, and you want to blame…Charlie Manuel?
The pesky Braves just can't lose, can they? Other than last night's gem of a game from Hamels, the Braves have dominated the Phillies all season. Tonight, they showed great patience at the plate and got Kyle Kendrick to exit the game early, just to tear up the Phils' bullpen. In the rubber match of this series, Phillies fans were caught with their hands shielding their...
The Phillies lost the final game of the series to the Atlanta Braves, 12-6. The Phils had a huge rally, but the bullpen could not keep the game close.
KENDRICK’S STRUGGLES PUT JOB IN JEOPARDY
-Kyle Kendrick finished the night with an unpleasant line: 3.1 innings pitched, seven hits, six earned runs, and three walks. The Braves had a four-run second inning, with the biggest...
It was fun while it lasted, but we all knew it would come to an end sometime. The Phillies home sellout streak came to a close yesterday with a total of 257 consecutive games and 273 including the postseason. That means if you were at Sunday’s game like I was, you are now part of history: Game #257. It was the last day of a great era in Phillies baseball.
Jimmy Rollins told the...
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Cole Hamels threw a five-hitter for his fifth career shutout, Ryan Howard hit a two-run homer and the Philadelphia Phillies beat Atlanta 3-0 Tuesday night to snap a seven-game losing streak against the Braves.
Hamels (12-6) struck out six and didn't walk a batter to record his 11th career complete game and his first win in three tries since signing a 144...
Dan Uggla is showing signs of life.
He had a two-RBI game on July 30. There was another one on Aug. 4.
And then there was his two-hit game on Monday.
Uggla, to borrow an unflattering nickname from online commentators, is still Struggla, but he has a pulse.
For Braves fans, there is hope that he is emerging from another one of his funks and will add another potent bat for the...
Cousin Catherine was FINALLY home from her summer job, and obviously we needed to go to a Braves game as soon as possible. And because it was Star Wars night (and somehow she's never seen Star Wars??) there were a lot of festivities.
Batting practice pictures first, as usual. This might be my last weekday beepee for a while! Sad.
The first picture I took. I love it when Freddie...
Cole Hamels five-hit the Braves as the Phils finally end their losing streak with Atlanta, winning 3-0.
The Phils took a quick 1-0 lead in the first as Dom Brown hits an RBI double, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had started the inning off with a double. Two batters later, with Brown still on second base, and now with one man out, Ryan Howard hits a two-run home run, his fifth home...
