Philadelphia Phillies (38-51) vs. Colorado Rockies (34-53) Cole Hamels (10-4, 3.20) vs. Drew Pomeranz (1-3, 3.06) Time: 3:10, Coors Field TV: PHL 17 Weather: Mostly Sunny, 92 Media: Twitter and Facebook The Phillies snapped their five game losing streak with last night’s 8-5 victory over the Rockies.   If the Phillies want any shot at making a run, they have to win as many series as possible.  A win today would be a good start. Cole Hamels last pitched an inning during the All Star Game.  He retired the side in order.  July is passing quickly, and the trade deadline on July 31 is quickly approaching.  Will this be  Hamels’ last star as a Phillie?  We don’t have an answer yet, but every start creates that question. Hamels will be opposed by Drew Pomeranz, who has little major league experience.  He has done well in 35.1 innings in the big leagues this season, limiting batters to a .217 average.  Pomeranz has a good fastball and curveball, and is working on a changeup. Hamels Leads Phillies to Series Win Over Rockies

Hamels was Hamels on Sunday. (AP) The Phillies started off their six-game, post-all-star break road trip by winning the opening series against the Rockies. On Sunday, Cole Hamels shut down Colorado, leading the Phillies to a 5-1 victory. It was the first series victory for the Phillies since they beat Colorado at home nearly a month ago – June 19, 20, and 21. HAMELS PROVES WHY...

Billy the Philly Fan Calls Ruben Amaro About Cole Hamels

Billy the Philly Fan is mad! So mad he called the Philadelphia Phillies to give a message to Ruben Amaro. He told them that if the Phillies trade or do not resign Cole Hamels that he would give up his season tickets after over 30 years. He is encouraging every fan to call and tell them the same thing. Together we can influence the Phillies front office to do the right thing and extend...

Yankees to Monitor the Cole Hamels Situation

Here's what Ken Davidoff had to say about the Yankees potential interest in Cole Hamels:The short answer is yes, the Yankees absolutely will be in the loop as the shockingly horrid Phillies field offers for Hamels while also trying to re-sign him. Yet you shouldn’t expect the Yankees to go as hard after Hamels as they did Lee, and that has nothing to do with Hamels and everything...

Cole Hamels Mans The Hill In An Effort For Series Win Against Rox

The Phillies finally pulled a win out of their behinds last night, taking the second game 8-5. Vance Worley got the win, his fifth of the season after tossing 6 2/3 strong innings while raking in two runs of his own from an RBI double. So the Phils pitchers can hit now? He's no Cliff Lee, but it's still cool. He also took a tumble in his first at-bat, which was actually his...

Philadelphia Phillies: 2012 ERA for the NL East at game 90

Pitching deep into almost every game, Cole Hamels of the Philadelphia Phillies is among the best.  How does Miami compare after their ace has worked?  The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my daily coverage. TAL’S HANDY STATS   WELCOME, NEWCOMERS: I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the...

Phils Win Series, Hamels Earns 11th Victory of the Season

Final: Phillies 5, Rockies 1. WP: Cole Hamels (11-4, 3.07 ERA) LP: Drew Pomeranz (1-4, 3.79 ERA) One at a time. If the Phillies keep that motto in their heads and produce on the field, getting a spot in the 2012 postseason will start to get more likely to achieve. Cole Hamels lasted eight strong innings, allowing just one run, as the Phillies offense clicked against 23 year-old Drew...

Report: Angels, Dodgers, Rangers Scouting Cole Hamels Today; Dodgers Eying Jimmy Rollins?

While the Phillies may be preparing a large offer for Cole Hamels, other teams salivate on the sidelines, hoping that he may be available.  They are also apparently doing their homework for potential trades.  CSNPhilly's Jim Salisbury reports that the Angels, Dodgers, and Rangers are all scouting Cole Hamels' start today in Denver. Further, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman is...

Philadelphia Phillies storyline: Howling deadline wolves

The vultures with their equipment were there to rate Cole Hamels and the other stars of the Philadelphia Phillies.  Do you know why Rube Amaro waited until now before increasing his re-signing efforts for his youngest ace? TAL’S HANDY CAPS   WELCOME, NEWCOMERS: I will publish after every battle that is not washed out.  I will have many season-long highlights of puzzle pieces...

Phillies preparing a $120 million offer to Cole Hamels- Apparently he wants more

Today is one of those days when I woke up from the wrong side of the bed and unfortunately Cole Hamels is going to pay for it. According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports, the Phillies are preparing a $120 million offer to Hamels, but apparently they aren't optimistic they can prevent him from becoming a free agent. A person with Phillies ties close to Heyman believes that a Cliff Lee...

A Hypothetical Nationals Trade For Cole Hamels

After a lot of banter about what Cole Hamels might fetch in trade, it was reported earlier today that the Phillies are preparing a “major offer” in an attempt to retain him past this season. It was also reported that the Nationals might be relatively quiet at the trade deadline, given that they have few holes to fill. And that’s true, if Stephen Strasburg doesn’t get shut...

Expect some movement before trade deadline

On baseballs midsummer marketplace, there is no Big Board to tell us the value of Cole Hamels or Matt Garza. General managers arent crammed together on a trading floor, like at the New York Stock Exchange, although that would be highly entertaining. (I want to see Jon Daniels and Jerry Dipoto, of the rival Rangers and Angels respectively, working feverishly to acquire Zack Greinke...

Can the Phillies Save Themselves?

There is a lot of chatter and trade rumors creeping around the Phillies right now. Who will stay and who will go? And, do they even have any real choices here? One of the predominant theories says that if the Phillies make a strong run in the 2nd half, they may be able to keep guys like Cole Hamels and Shane Victorino. But to do so would mean winning a LOT of games. Last night...
