Many are looking at the line-up today and wondering why Dillon Gee is starting while Livan Hernandez is pitching to minor leaguers....Once Hernandez proved his health, the coaching staff seemed very comfortable with him just getting his reps. Rem. this entire organization is very familiar with Livan; Jerry Manuel was his bench coach in 1996 when he was the MVP of the World Series for the Florida Marlins and Omar Minaya brought him to Montreal in 2003 to be the ace of his staff. No one expects those type of results from him these days, he's the veteran fifth starter eating innings and passing along knowledge to the young guys......Dillon Gee on the other hand is a rapidly rising prospect who Jerry Manuel specifically requested to see start one more time this spring. Apparently Manuel was impressed with what he saw early in spring training and wants to see a little more of the young pitcher.
