San Francisco Giants
The Pittsburgh Pirates highly touted pitching prospect, and former No.1 overall draft pick, Gerrit Cole did not disappoint one bit in his Major League debut Tuesday night. Well, unless you are a Giants fan that is.
The 22-year old righty threw six and a third innings in his debut, allowing two runs on seven hits. The final line doesn’t show just how dominant he was though. Cole yielded just four runs while shutting out the Giants through his first six innings before finally running into some trouble.
Leading up to Andres Torres’ lead-off single in the seventh inning, Cole had retired the previous 13 Giants in order. The Bucs No.1 prospect also contributed a hit to his own cause, eventually leaving with the 8-2 lead en route to his first Major League victory.
For San Francisco, it was another disappointing outing for Tim Lincecum, as their former ace continues to struggle to find any consistency between starts on the mound.
The former two-time Cy Young winner lasted just four and two...

In his first major league start of what should be a career to track, Gerrit Cole looked every bit the part of first overall draft pick (2011) for the Pittsburgh Pirates. And not just against any old team, but against the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, against 2-time Cy Young Award winner and 4-time All Star Tim Lincecum. And his girlfriend’s brother happens...
I’m not sure where to even start… Let’s start with the San Francisco Giants falling to the Pirates to open the series. Tim Lincecum put up another shaky outing, and the Giants went on to lose 8-2.
Lincecum only lasted 4.2 innings and allowed 7 hits, 2 ER and 2 walks. He continues to struggle to put up consecutive consistent outings. I really believe opposing teams no longer...
Looks like Marco Scutaro can return to baseball sooner than most were expecting after he took a pitch to his pinky finger Tuesday night. But he has a crucial choice to make. No, this isn’t some Ronnie Lott-type business where amputation is being discussed.
It’s much less grisly than that, but appearance is still weighing heavily in his decision. That is: help out the team and...
I’m going to attempt to cut this one off at the pass. I don’t want to see this go as far as the McCutcheon misspelling of Andrew McCutchen. Or the Neil Walker, Neal Huntington inversion dichotomy. The name is Gerrit Cole. Not Garrett Cole. Not Garret Cole. Not Gerritt Cole. Not Garrit Cole. Not Garritt…

So Gerrit Cole, right? Good outing, definitely something to build on. It appears he is going to do everything he can to stay on this team, which is great. There is really no need for Jeanmar Gomez to ever make another start for the Pirates. This is a pretty huge revelation. Hurdle also said that…
