Royals Treatment:
Anybody still thinking that Royals second-baseman Chris Getz will merely provide a source of decent defense and be an offensive liability at the bottom of the order this season?
Getz made a real positive statement regarding his capabilities with the bat on Saturday afternoon, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI’s in Kansas City’s 5-4 comeback win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The former White Sox infielder first came up clutch on the day in the bottom of the 5th with a line-drive shot up the middle to tie it at 1. Another single in the 7th would find him reach scoring position, but he was left stranded as Alex Gordon went down on called strikes. However, Getz would make another plate appearance in the bottom of the 8th, with his Royals having just tied it at 4, and calmly delivered an eventual game-winning RBI stroke to the grass.
A pretty good afternoon for the #9 hitter in the line-up. Some questioned manager Ned Yost’s decision to sit lead-off hitter Mike Aviles ...
