Pablo Sandoval is ready to put all the chatter about his weight to rest. Last year's World Series MVP insists he is doing his best to get in tip-top shape, and he's certainly showing he has plenty of range at third base. After spending the spring working on his defense, Kung Fu Panda made several nice plays behind Barry Zito to back a 1-0 win over St. Louis in San Francisco's home opener Friday - including running down a foul popup near the home bullpen. Sandoval, who hit three home runs in Game 1 of the Giants' four-game World Series sweep against the Tigers last season, had a stomach bug early in spring training and a sore elbow late in the exhibition schedule.

San Francisco Giants handed out replica World Series championship rings at Sunday’s game

Tweet   After starting out in Los Angeles for a three-games series versus the Dodgers the San Francisco Giants returned to bay area for their first home games of the 2013 season this weekend. With that came the long awaited spoils that go with being World Series champions. Prior to the home opener on Friday [...]

Cards look to solve Giants starting pitching

(AP) -- San Francisco's No. 5 starter Ryan Vogelsong has a tough act to follow. That is, he has a couple of tough acts to follow. The Giants' rotation has yet to allow an earned run, and Vogelsong will try to keep that impressive streak intact when he takes the ball Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals. San Francisco's formidable rotation is off to a stellar start...

Barry Zito pitches gem against Cardinals

Barry Zito notched a win in his first start of the season Friday. Zito pitched seven innings allowing just three hits in the Giants 1-0 win against St. Louis. Jeremy Affeldt and Sergio Romo pitched perfect eighth and ninth innings preserving the win. Expectations have been tempered over the past few seasons with Zito but a strong postseason and World Series win have raised them this...

Zito throws another gem vs Cardinals

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Barry Zito saved San Francisco's season by beating the Cardinals last fall in the NL championship series, then delivered again with a 1-0 victory over St. Louis on Friday as the Giants celebrated their latest World Series title throughout the home opener. Zito outdueled Jake Westbrook in his season debut. The lefty also had a key sacrifice bunt that led to...

SF Giants should prepare for respect

It costs to gain respect, but sometimes respect isn’t given even when earned. The reigning MLB champions have won two of the last three championships, yet they are still referred to as underdogs. “It’s a club that I don’t think has gotten the credit that it deserves for the talent that’s here,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy tells Chris Haft of MLB.com. “Everyone

Cards double up Giants, Miller wins

Carlos Beltran hit a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth against his former team and Shelby Miller beat the reigning World Series champion San Francisco Giants in his second career start, spoiling Buster Posey's MVP party with a 6-3 win for the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Pete Kozma had three hits, drove in a run and scored for St. Louis from the No. 8 spot in the order...

The Honeymoon Is Over

All in all, the Giants started the season against two of the toughest teams in the National League, and came out 3-3.  They won a series against the Dodgers. But damn if Sunday’s game doesn’t leave a bad taste in one’s mouth.  I couldn’t be happier to see the Rockies right now.

New Dodgers Handled By the Same Old Giants

The newly purchased Los Angeles Dodgers started the 2013 season by rolling up to their home stadium in a fleet of high end BMWs, Lamborghinis, and Porsches. Three games later the San Francisco Giants had those vehicles tagged, towed and impounded in the 2013 National League West cellar. And while it's not likely the Dodgers will continue to lose two of every three games,...
