Per Henry Schulman, among others, Giants outfielder Andres Torres and reliever Jose Mijares have injuries that will keep them out of the World Baseball Classic. Torres, who would have played for Puerto Rico, has an oblique strain that will keep him sidelined for a week. Mijares, a member of the Venezuelan team, has elbow soreness. Minor injuries but enough to keep them out of the WBC. With Javier Lopez previously dropping out, that now leaves eight Giants players competing in the international tournament. When reviewing the list of first basemen for the 2013 season, my pick to break out is Brandon Belt of the San Francisco Giants. On the positive side, Belt had good plate...

Injuries And The World Baseball Classic

I don’t mean to laugh at any injuries, just the hypocrisy.
