Outfielder Melky Cabrera and the San Francisco Giants avoided arbitration Tuesday, agreeing on a one-year contract worth $6 million.Cabrera gets a hefty raise after enjoying a career year with the Kansas City Royals. The 27-year-old batted .305 with 18 homers, 87 RBIs and 20 stolen bases while making just $1.25 million in 2011.Cabrera came to the Giants in a November trade that saw the Royals receive starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez and minor-league hurler Ryan Verdugo.Cabrera joins his fourth team in as many seasons. He broke in with the New York Yankees, then spent 2010 in Atlanta before joining the Royals.
