SAN DIEGO -- Four errors by teammates might spell doom for most pitchers. Matt Cain isn't like most pitchers, though, as the San Francisco Giants ace again showed on Thursday en route to his sixth win in a row. Cain struck out nine in seven innings without allowing an earned run, and Buster Posey, Angel Pagan and Gregor Blanco homered as the Giants beat the San Diego Padres, 8-3, to win the three-game series at PETCO Park. The Giants (33-25) have won nine of their last 11 games. The Padres (19-39) are on pace to lose 109 games. Cain was harmed more by a Giants defense that leads the National League in errors than a Padres offense that ranked last in the majors with a .189 batting average with men in scoring position. Four Giants fielders combined to make four errors in six innings, including two in the third inning that led to three unearned runs with the Giants ahead 4-0.
